Gaines has a lankier athletic 6-0 frame that has some strength left and projection left to it. Showed some arm strength in the outfield during pregame and moved well in right. At the plate, hits from an open leaned back balanced athletic stance, low leg kick stride on line, short smooth load. Hips rotate with some violence and he maintains good lower half balance. Level quick line drive swing, stays inside the ball and has some strength at contact. Has some power present in the gaps, showed a good approach in the game, using the whole field, chance to grow into more power as he gets stronger.
