2.22.15 Hit from a slightly open stance that was athletic and balanced. Had a smooth load with a short modified leg kick. Maintained his balance through his swing and had fluid rhythm. Had above average bat speed with a good approach. Exit Velocity was 88 mph. Swing path was short to the ball with good extension. Should be a line drive, gap to gap hitter. In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy. His Positional Velocity was 84 mph. His hands were soft, with clean exchanges. He displayed fluid footwork that allowed him to play through the ball.
7-20-2018: James Madison junior Fox Semones had another one of the best swings of the event, hitting an opposite-field two-run homer on a fastball away. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound righthanded hitter also singled the other way on an 82 mph slider on the outside corner. He finished 3-for-6 with three runs and three RBIs in the two games, stealing two bases for good measure. Semones has been a rock-steady performer for two years at JMU, posting an .806 OPS as a freshman and an .823 OPS as a sophomore, with seven homers this spring. He doesn’t profile as a big power threat in pro ball, but he has proven that he has enough strength to hold his own and drive the ball into the gaps. He’s a good runner with 15 stolen bases this summer for Bethesda, and he’s a versatile defender who can hold his own at second base or in the outfield, though he looks most natural at second, where his arm is playable.
