Semones

4.11.16:  Semones is an athletic two way player that hits from the right side with short stroke with above average bat speed. He has doubles power to the middle of the field and a bit more to his pull side. He is very fast, running 4.03 twice in the game and showing a lot of range and athleticism at shortstop. On the mound, Semones throws from a high three-quarters arm slot with a drop and drive delivery and a short, lightning fast arm action that generates velocity with some effort. His shoulders are on line and slightly uphill. His fastball sat 87-89, touching 90 once with a bit of late run to it. His slider had sharp, power 11/5 break, sometimes running more 10/4, that was 75-77.

3.15.16:  Semones is an athletic infielder that is very quick and he has good range at shortstop. He showed soft hands and a quick release during the game. He has a short arm action and a loose arm that is very strong. Semones should easily be able to stick at shortstop at the next level.

3.19.15:  Came in from SS to pitch.  High ¾ arm slot.  Was off on the night.  FB was 79-82 mph.  Command was inconsistent.  Slider was not as tight and sat at 68-71 mph.  Flashed a change up at 72 mph.

2.22.15 Hit from a slightly open stance that was athletic and balanced.  Had a smooth load with a short modified leg kick.  Maintained his balance through his swing and had fluid rhythm.  Had above average bat speed with a good approach.  Exit Velocity was 88 mph.  Swing path was short to the ball with good extension.  Should be a line drive, gap to gap hitter.  In the field, he threw from a high ¾ arm slot with accuracy.  His Positional Velocity was 84 mph.  His hands were soft, with clean exchanges.  He displayed fluid footwork that allowed him to play through the ball.

2/22/2015:  Semones stands 5-foot-11 and has an athletic frame that is a bit lanky. He has smooth, drop and drive mechanics and throws from a high three-quarters slot. He has a long, loose arm action and a lighting fast armstroke that generates easy velocity. His shoulders are uphill and closed as he strides on line to a slightly open landing before coming to an athletic finish. Semones’ fastball ran 83-85 with hard run on it. He threw a sharp, 10/4 slider with full armspeed that ran 70-73. He also threw a fading change-up with full armspeed that ran 69-72. Semones had outstanding command of all three pitches.

11/9/2014:  Semones is an athletic 5-foot-11 and could add some muscle to his frame. He is also a middle infielder and brings that athleticism with him to the mound. Semones throws from a high three-quarters slot and has a short, loose arm action that generates easy velocity. He is smooth and stays on line to his target as he strides down the mound. Semones’ fastball sat 86-88 in his first inning of work, touching 89. It tailed off to 84-86 in the second. He had heavy, late run on it and commanded the pitch well. Semones also showed a 12/6 curve that ran 72-74 and a slider that came in at 76.  At the plate, hits from an athletic/balanced stance. Has a quiet rhythm, small load back, short stride, and utilizes his backside well.  Good line drive approach that stays in the middle of the field. Had an exit velocity of 85 mph off of the tee.  In the field, has average hands, good feet, athleticism, tendency to wait on the ball.  Throws were quick and accurate. Had a clean transfer.  Had a positional velocity of 74 mph.
