Sweeney has a thin athletic frame standing around 6-foot. Sweeney is a defensive gem, covering a ton of ground in the outfield, and with his speed is a threat at all times on the offensive side. Hits from the right side with a wider athletic base. Small pickup and strides in landing slightly closed. Hands load back in rhythm to a slight arm bar, is short to the ball, and the bat path is level with an uphill finish. Doesn't try to muscle up and uses his ability to run with a middle line drive approach, but showed some power at times to the pull-side. Is a big time threat on the bases with elite footspeed and is a very instinctive base runner.
