In the box, Barnitz started in a high neutral stance. Swung wood at this event, but was still able to register a 89 during live BP. Displayed a middle/middle approach. Defensively, showcased a next level receiving skill-set. Works the lower half of the strike zone well and will steal boarder line pitches that are out of the zone. Ran a 7.13 - sixty which was 15th best at the event. High follow in the 2022 class.
6-foot, 170-pound right-handed hitter starts from a slightly open stance and incorporates a toe-tap stride to begin. Displayed advanced feel for the barrel and an ability to stay behind the baseball during a very good round of batting practice. Registered an 88 mph bat exit velocity and ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Flashed pop times of 2.06-2.14 on throws of 68 mph from the crouch and displayed a soft glove hand defensively.
2.10.19 - Offensively, the 6-foot, 170-pound primary Catcher starts in a athletic, neutral stance. He displayed a slight upper cut swing and made loud contact during his round. His hands work well with his body. A 82 mph exit velocity was recorded.
Defensively, Barnitz displayed quick feet, with a strong arm recorded at 68 mph. He keeps his shoulders square when blocking, which was impressive for his age. Overall, Barnitz was impressive at this event.
