Maddon looked right at home among one of the strongest fields assembled this summer. The San Diego commit produced a 99 mph max exit velocity while showing the compact stroke and athletic operation that has made him one of Arizona's top middle infielders. Throughout batting practice, Maddon consistently found the barrel and flashed the ability to drive the baseball with authority to all fields. Defensively, he showcased the smooth actions, range, and arm strength expected from a high level shortstop, posting 88 mph across the diamond. The overall polish and baseball instincts continue to separate him from many of his peers.
