4/08/26
Waisbord turned in a sharp four-inning start, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits while striking out two and walking two over 71 pitches. After the first two batters of the game reached on doubles in the opening inning, he settled in well and did not allow another run the rest of the outing. The right-hander showed a polished four-pitch mix, though he leaned primarily on the fastball/slider combination, using it effectively to keep hitters off balance and limit hard contact. He worked 85-87 mph with the fastball, showing arm-side run and sink, and paired it with a 76-79 mph slider that was his most-used secondary pitch. The slider tunneled well off the fastball and played effectively with his 68–73 mph curveball, which showed mostly 12/6 shape with occasional 11/5 action. Waisbord also mixed in an 80-81 mph changeup sparingly, and it currently looks like a developing fourth pitch in the arsenal. While the outing did not produce a high swing-and-miss total, he consistently worked both arm side and glove side, showing feel for location and an ability to pitch to weak contact throughout the start.
