Easy, loose arm action with some effort from the delivery. Ball comes out easy and gets on hitters in a hurry. Slider has improved in both command and velocity to the point that it was used as an out pitch. Really impressive outing in relief. Will serve as teams closer this spring.
Andrew Frausto, El Dorado (CA), 2024
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 175lbs. Medium frame. Lean athletic build. Strong lower half. Room to add. Average swift athletic testing metrics.
Defense: Solid defensive actions. Light feet. Plays low to the ground and in rhythm. Soft hands with quick glove-to-hand. Early signs of being able to stay up the middle.
Arm: RH. INF - 83mph. Average strength. Easy effort. Shorter AA. Higher tendency. More in the tank.
Hit: RHH. Balanced athletic stance. Simple forward stride. No negative move. Hands stay neutral throughout load. Compact/direct stroke. Average bat speed (68 mph avg.) Bat accelerates early (18gs avg. rotational acceleration). More FBs than LDs/GBs during BP round. Gap to gap power. Easy balance. Present scissor.
Delivery: Quick/uptempo delivery. Repeats well. Side steps into a chest high knee tuck. Good sit into backleg and maintains flexion into stride. Lower half works in-line with home. Larger stride (92% of body height). Shoulders above hips. Minimal torso tilt into footstrike. Average lead leg block.
Arm Action: Hand lead path out the glove. Loads into good scap retraction (-5 horizontal abduction). Sneaky quick armspeed. Easy effort. Works to a normal ¾ slot. Maintains armspeed/slot on FB/SL.
FB: Present ASR. Flashed some above avg. spin (2360). 44% strikes. Leaked armside at times.
SL: Lower spin. Smaller breaking (2inch IVB, 3inch IHM). Lacked feel in-zone.
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Lean frame. Medium build with room for added mass.
Hit: Slightly open to start, a flat barrel that slots into launch position during weight shift. Gets quality hip shoulder separation before initiating the swing. Slight loft to the swing.
Power: 87.00 max exit velocity, Gap to gap power at the moment, could easily see this develop with added strength due to how the swing plays.
Arm: RH. INF - 80.00 mph. Shorter arm in the IF that has the potential to stick up the middle. Action is clean and showed the ability to make accurate throws from multiple arm angles.
Defense: Above average actions, fielded balls cleanly and in rhythm. Light on feet which allowed him to move well laterally.
Run: 7.21 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Sets up on 1B side of the rubber. Hands overhead delivery with some tempo. Quick leg lift and drive down the mound. Some movement in the back foot as he beings to sit and drive down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Shorter arm action on the mound with some length near the back end. Late getting up at times causing the arm to play catch up. Higher slot.
FB: T82, 78-81 mph. Averaged 79.5 mph with 2054 rpm and 19.7" of induced vertical break. Max 22.6" of IVB suggests this pitch has the potential to garner swings up in the zone if located properly.
CB: 66-68 mph. Slow, sweepy breaking ball that has potential for quality sweep and drop. Max of 9.5" drop and 10.8" sweep suggest a feel for spin and pulling down on a seam.
SL: 74-76 mph. Harder, more cutter-like slider that averaged positive vertical break. This pitch will tunnel out of the hand with the fastball better due to them being on more similar planes.
CH: 74-75 mph. Kills induced vertical break and adds horizontal movement giving this pitch a different look from a movement standpoint when compared to the FB. A small velocity split could be room for improvement.
