Bobby Brooks put together an impressive offensive performance that turned heads with his consistent loud contact throughout the game, showing advanced feel for the barrel and the ability to drive the baseball to all fields. Brooks highlighted his day with a standup double over the right fielder’s head, staying back on a well-placed slider on the outer half and driving it with authority the other way—a testament to his ability to adjust and time offspeed pitches. At the plate, Brooks features clean, quiet hands in his stance, paired with strong pitch tracking skills that allow him to let the ball travel deep before unleashing his swing. His barrel path is efficient and stays long through the zone, helping him generate hard contact even on pitches on the edges of the plate. Throughout the day, he showcased quality at-bats with a mature approach, staying disciplined and not chasing out of the zone. Brooks' swing mechanics, combined with his ability to cover the plate and use all fields with power, make him an exciting follow heading into next season. With his present offensive tools and feel for hitting, he projects as a middle-of-the-order bat at the next level, capable of producing both average and slugging production.

Brooks has been a well known name in baseball circles around Orange County since he broke through in a big way as a freshman at La Habra. In my first viewing of the spring, Brooks, at first glance, appears more physical with pronounced strength throughout the frame. A two-way football player for La Habra, Brooks plays baseball in the same manner. Shows the tools to be able to stick at shortstop with quick feet, quicker transfers, and a big arm. Throws flash carry across the diamond and are typically in range for the first baseman to make a play. At the plate is a controlled swing with present bat speed that he’s able to maintain through the zone. Reads spin out of the hand very well and has the discipline to not chase bad pitches. Distributes weight well in from load to follow through using plus hand speed/strength to maintain the barrel on plane through contact. Jumped on the mound late in the game and touched 88mph with the fastball while living 85-87mph with some arm side run. Also flashes an above average slider at 72-74mph.
