With a well-built 6-foot-5 frame and room to get stronger, shows some skills that speak not only to his physical talent, but his future as a corner power producer.
60 yd: Even with his big build, he showed off his athleticism just from how he started the 60. He set up low and was able to post a 7.34.
1B Defense: Taking that low to the ground setup from his 60 to his defense, he also showed a wide setup and one hop to react to ground balls that were fluid. Soft hands at first with very good footwork made his arm look good. Accurate throws and a velo of 82 mph, his lateral movement coming off first base showed well. He turns hips well, showing different arm angles with range.
Hitting: Again, with a good wide base, he was able to make tight turns to the baseball which were triggered by a quick leg kick. His hands are already in a good position to hit and are activated and stay inside the baseball. Showing his ample power, he was able to register an exit velo of 101.05.
Summary: Showing off his skills as a defender, coupled with a power bat, he showcased quite well. Although he was not entirely consistent, he made it look easy and the power potential is significant.
at Woodcreek HS - Physically imposing young man and looks like he isn't done growing, long body has not yet added all the strength and weight from physical maturity yet, has significant future power coming but presently does show ability and willingness to use the whole field, heavy hands allow ball to jump with less than 100% swing, some tipping over of the upper body at times, classic power profile w/hints of hitability that make him more than a one trick pony, ran 4.51 on 4-3 put-out, soft hands on D, deft at feeds to pitchers covering, moves well and made adjustment to tough hop off the 1B bag, certainly looked like a two-way (D & O) talent with significant ceiling for power production.
