Brody Martin delivered an absolute masterclass on the mound against Del Norte. He set the tone early, opening the game with a strikeout on a 91 mph heater, a clear sign I was in for a big performance. Standing at 6’5”, Martin looks every bit the part of a frontline ace for the Falcons. His fastball sat 88–90 mph and topped at 91 which dropped down to 84-86 in the 6th and 7th inning. However, with noticeable life to his fastball, it made it tough for Nighthawk hitters to square up even deep into the game. He paired it with a sweeping curveball that worked beautifully off his fastball, creating a nearly unhittable combo throughout the outing. The only blemish came on a first-pitch homer in the fifth, but outside of that, Martin was in full control, allowing just three hits and striking out seven in a complete-game effort. The ability to command a live fastball and pair it with a sharp breaking ball makes Martin a serious problem for opposing lineups and a reliable arm the Falcons can ride deep into the season with his already astounding 0.39 ERA.
