9/9/18 - The UC Irvine commit was one of the eye-openers in this game. The lefty attacked hitters from the first pitch with a mix of fastball, changeup and a slider that projects to be plus. Has some funk in his delivery and style, but it works. And while there's some effort at times, Yager showed the ability to ramp it up only when necessary. Fastball has some life as it enters the zone. Commands it well and generally worked down with the pitch although a couple got away and were left up. Changeup shows late diving action and he used it perfectly in combination with the slider. Set up two lefty hitters with sliders away before busting them in with changeups. The slider falls off the table late with hard tilting action. At 75-76 mph and from the same arm speed as the fastball, the slider was unhittable in this outing. Yager shows the confidence and ability to execute the slider as an out pitch.
