Cape Cod: Warrecker stood out this spring for his ability to pound the zone with three quality offerings, though inconsistency in his execution often led to him being more hittable than one would generally expect given his control and stuff. This summer, the righty took a big step forward, tightening his plus control to plus command while carving his way through the Cape. The team leader in wins (4) and innings (39) maintained a 2.54 ERA and 0.872 WHIP, while walking just eight over his 10 appearances and producing a SO/BB rate of 4.38. His arsenal starts with a lively 89-92 mph fastball (2250 rpm) than he wields with precision to both sides of the plate. Both his 81-83 mph changeup and 79-80 mph slider grade out as average to above-average offerings, with the horizontal action on each offering mirroring each other and tunneling well off the fastball (helping the whole package to play up). The Cape All-Star boasts and athletic and repeatable delivery, working at a good pace and mixing his pitches and locations well. It isn’t a power arsenal, but Warrecker showed perhaps the best feel on the Cape and executed throughout his starts over multiple turns of opposing lineups. A strong spring showing similar consistency in execution across his offerings could bump his profile to that of a Day One talent come next year’s draft.
