at California HS - UC Santa Barbara commit; Physical body with muscular proportions, played as DH in this one, hit in the 3-hole. Approach was to let it fly with damage intent in positive counts, there is some swing and miss but also impact ability. Cut down his swing in a 3-2 count to make adjustment to CB (lined out to 2nd base), impressive late game walk in grinding at-bat after laying off multiple borderline pitches and breaking balls after chasing a couple early in the AB.
at Acalanes - UC Santa Barbara commit; 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, athletic, muscular frame. Terrific arm strength that stood out during pregame warm-ups and translated to the game. Was able to hold runner at 2nd base on deep fly ball to left-center gap. Throws were accurate and very strong. Above average speed in outfield and on the bases. Ran 4.19 on infield single and 6.97 2nd to home. Solid hitter as well. Stands close to plate, holds hands high with mostly square stance. Very quiet stance, small load, uses toe tap, and produces above average bat speed. Didn’t have great swing discipline and went after high fastball for a strikeout in his second at-bat and fished for change-up, lining out in his 3rd at-bat. Would like to see a more controlled approach but he has time to work out the approach and plenty of bat talent.
at De La Salle in NCS D1 semi-final - Uncommitted; compact athletic build with some present visible strength in lower body, ran well underway with easy strides on a double to left-centerfield. Holds hands high at plate, good plate coverage, hands work inside, some SLIGHT leak to pull side took him off fastball on outer half but he was close. Above average bat speed with strong hands. Double was one hop off deep LF fence and he dug out a 86 mph fastball on the inner half. Also walked and then again showed that approach on outer half will need to be adjusted as he punched out looking on a fastball away. All in all he showed the tools to hit and should find himself in middle of their line up in his junior year.
