NCA Underclass ID - Athletically built medium frame; long with space for more strength and projectable. Compact stride with wider knees gets moving quickly underway (7.43 60 yd). Stands tall, balanced with slight lean in the waist keeping high back elbow and high hands. Hands have small sway backwards being compact and tight; simple, easy control in the swing with loose wrists able to keep barrel in zone. Barrel shows some bat speed with ability to stay to pull side of the field utilizing quick efficient swing (83 EV); swing flashes some growing pop when getting leverage on the ball. Agile feet allow him to play low and smoothly through the ball showing control of the body. Compact arm flicks balls across the infield with good hand speed (76 MPH). Liked the actions and frame as they can stay in the middle of the infield and hit atop lineup.
PBR SoCal Preseason All-State. Uncommitted. This is our 3rd viewing. Displayed good bat speed in batting practice round, with current gap power. Alvarado has polished up defensively and worked well through the ball on his ground ball set. Displays average arm strength presently. Being that he is a 2021, he has time for the overall development of his strength and game.
6/12/18 - Uncommitted. Athletically proportioned 5-foot-10 145-pound body type on a projectable frame. Left-handed hitter with tall set-up and good balance. Hands work inside ball well, fairly flat through the zone with good extension and some slight lift at finish. Gets bat flat early and into zone well. Exit speeds are competitive given his age. Confident at the plate. Chance to be solid gap to gap hitter with occasional ability to turn on the ball with some pop. Defensively he has a chance to compete at the 2nd base position. Feet work a bit narrowly and there is an extra step in there as he sets up to throw, hands worked well and he bounced around with energy and confidence. Works to get low and stay below the ball but can smooth out the overall footwork and get a bit wider while adding a quicker release. Throws did stay on line and had some carry.
