ACG Tryout - Big, powerful left handed hitter. Open setup and a moderate leg kick result in a blistering line drives off the bat. Has present power. Defensively, Acosta’s transfer and feet were impressively quick for a big guy. Threw 74 mph from the squat and had consistent pop times between 2.00-2.01 seconds. Rana 7.31 second 60 yard dash.
Positional Profile: C
Physical: 5-11, 210-pounds; Full, full build. 7.96 runner in the 60.
Offensively: LHH. Open setup, with feet just outside his shoulders; bat positioned at a 45 degree angle. Short take back with the hands with a knee knock leg kick for timing. Drifts into contact while showing a strong lower half. Showed a direct swing path with one-handed finish. More line drives than fly balls and ground balls with a peak exit velocity of 102 MPH via Trackman. Physical with outstanding bat control and barrel awareness, 100 hard hit %, 90.9 sweet spot %, impactful power potential with the bat speed and consistency of contact.
Defensively: 2.05-2.21 pop times. C - 75 MPH. Traditional set-up for pops, on-line accuracy, quick efficient feet with small movements, exchange is clean and coordinated between hands and feet, some tailing action on throws, displayed both traditional and one-knee set-up while receiving, soft strong paws, can smooth out the pre-pitch movement but understands how to work under the ball.

Hit: LHH. Small leg kick timing mechanism with an upward barrel path to the ball.
Power: Topped 85 MPH Exit Velo via Trackman in BP, power will come with increased lean mass.
Arm: RH. C - 65 mph. Short, clean arm action that topped out at 65 MPH during the defensive workout.
Defense: 2.13-2.31 pop times. Wide base behind the plate with quick catch and throw skills.
Run: 7.85 runner in the 60.
