4/14/25
Hitting second, Costa acted as a table setter for the Oakdale offense, going 4-4 with a double and two runs scored, putting together multiple barrels on the day. Costa would begin his day by smoking a hanging breaking ball into left that would take a high bounce over the LF’s head, allowing Costa to get to second for a stand-up double and later coming around to score. After following up with another liner to left and a hard grounder down the 3rd base line for consecutive singles, Costa would show off his athleticism in his final AB to close out his day. Costa would smoke a 2-2 FB up in the zone for a grounder deep in the 5-6 hole, beating the throw to first thanks to great speed out of the box. Costa’s athleticism would additionally be on display on the bases and at SS, adding in a SB without a throw and fluid actions at SS. Standing at 5’ 9”, 180 lbs, Costa relies on a contact-heavy approach at the plate (1 whiff across 10 swings), demonstrating good bat speed. The junior creates good leverage at the plate with the ability to get the ball in the air. With good reads and a solid first step at SS, Costa has the makings of a good all-around profile.
