Friedberg got the Lancers going early, driving an off-speed pitch the other way for an RBI single along with heads up baserunning advancing to second on the throw home. He would later drive in another run via a sacrifice fly, again on an off-speed pitch. His ability to stay composed and adjust to different pitches was on full display, and his smart, aggressive baserunning only adds to his value as a well-rounded player. Friedberg’s maturity at the plate stands out, as he doesn’t try to do too much, instead focusing on making solid contact and working the count. His ability to execute in key moments, such as his sacrifice fly, shows his understanding of the game and his willingness to put the team’s success above individual stats. With his combination of offensive production, intelligence on the base paths, and defensive flexibility, Friedberg has the tools to be a difference-maker for Orange Lutheran this season and will certainly continue to develop into a key piece for the future of the program, as well as at the collegiate level with his commitment to Air Force.
