Madrid continues to rise for me personally now in my third look at him over the last two months plus. A physically well built RHH catcher who shows a strong overall toolset. He was able to navigate through an inconsistent outing from the Knights starting pitcher blocking several tough pitches in the dirt and helping to present borderline pitches with clean smooth actions. His arm is strong with 1.9-1.97 pop times showing accuracy with low online carry. I’m a fan of the offensive profile, especially with his physicality that Madrid is able to consistently elevate the baseball with authority from an uphill swing that has strong present bat speed and a good overall approach in the box. Madrid posted three solid at bats even without loud results it showcased his understanding of his offensive approach and long-term power profile by lofting three fly balls (two deep to LF narrowly missing a pull side HR and then another one with carry down the RF line) there is line to line power projection in the profile for Madrid.

Jacob Madrid, Notre Dame High School (CA), 2026 Long Beach State Positional Profile: C/OF Shows potential to be an impact defender at premium spot while adding a middle of the order offensive profile. Plus, legitimate reliever profile on the mound. Body: 6-5, 210-pounds. Physicality in present build with strength, but still room to improve. Delivery: Hands set around the chest before dropping to belly button and syncing with his front leg in the load portion. Front leg leads down the mound with length to the stride while staying taller on backside. Solid feel to block on front side with good use of his lower half in the delivery. Arm Action: RH. Full arm path out of the glove with downward depth while staying behind the body working up to the high 3/4 release point. Path features present quick arm speed with looseness and extension and minimal recoil after release. FB: T87, 85-87 mph. Lively FB with ride in the profile and good spin that will allow the straighter shape to play up in the zone for whiff/chase T2499, 2418 average rpm. CB: 72-75 mph. T2208, 1606 average rpm. CH: 78-78 mph. Heavy fade to the arm side with solid feel to kill spin T1992, 1992 average rpm. ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60. Stays low to drive off the line while showing body control and stride length throughout. Can clean up upper body mechanics to reach potential.

Plus, legitimate reliever profile on the mound. Body: 6-5, 210-pounds. Physicality in present build with strength, but still room to improve. Hit: RHH. Wider set up with feet slightly open. Gets bend in his knees to engage legs while staying vertical with his upper body. High back elbow with hands set above ear height closer to his head with waggle in the hands/bat. Shifts back into rear hip to start load with a toe tap on his front foot to reach launch positon. Hands tip the barrel to load. Aggressive turn in the hips with strong present bat speed while staying taller in his posture/legs during the turn. Hands are quick to the zone with an uphill bat path that produces lift with carry. 67.8 mph bat speed with 8 G's of rotational acceleration. Power: 100 max exit velocity, averaged 86.7 mph. 304' max distance. The uphill bat path and present top end EV gives him plenty of power projection. Ball carries, but some inconsistency to contact quality. Profiles to have middle/pull side of the field HR power. Arm: RH. C-82 mph. Clean quick transfer at the chest slightly off his body. Arm path is compact getting up on the backside quickly with strong present arm speed and carry to his throws. Profiles as an impact thrower behind the dish. Defense: 1.90-2.00 pop times. Polished in his receiving with impressive mobility for his size and ability to block Madrid looks like a high level defender at a premium spot. ATH: 7.32 runner in the 60. Stays low to drive off the line while showing body control and stride length throughout. Can clean up upper body mechanics to reach potential.

Madrid catches your eyes immediately when you see him checking in at 6’4 210 lbs with athletic build that still has room to add strength to present physicality. A solid athlete for size who runs a 7.3 60 and has good body control throughout his tools. On defense it’s an impressive profile with easy actions receiving and good mobility to move in his lower 1/2 to set up and block. The arm is real with 83 mph C velocity and 1.9 - 2.0 pops and on the bag with throws. He is confident in game with everything he does behind the dish. But, when the RH hitter steps to the dish it’s an intriguing profile. With present bat speed to an uphill path it’s easy to dream on his power and Madrid hits the ball hard with authority often reaching 100 MPH and in game rocketed a ball off the LF wall for a double. Plus the talented ‘26 got in the bump reaching 87 mph on his FB while attacking the zone and flashing an interesting SLD.
