Making up a formidable top of the rotation with Schutte, Haver got the start at 3rd for Oakdale and hit out of the 6-hole. Throughout the day, the Fresno State commit would have runners in scoring position each time he came up in the box, having multiple hard hits on the day. Coming up with the bases loaded in the 1st and the opportunity to break the game open for Oakdale, Haver would line a 1st pitch breaking ball to the third baseman playing in, who would step up the bag to double off the runner and end the inning. The senior would have better luck in his 2nd AB, lining a 2-2 FB up into left to load the bases. Haver would come up with the bases loaded once again in his final trip, sending an 0-2 breaking ball on a line towards LCF, getting robbed of a couple of RBI thanks to a great leaping play by the SS to end the inning. At the plate, Haver shows a fairly long swing that may leave him susceptible to swing-and-miss, but makes up for it with quick hands and an extended path through the zone. Haver gets out in front of the ball well with solid bat-to-ball skills, allowing for a strong pull-side approach. With an intriguing day at the plate, I’m looking forward to getting a look at Haver on the mound as the season begins to wind down.
