4/14/25
Getting the start for Oakdale, Schutte was absolutely dominant in the win over Oakdale, opening the game with 6 no-hit innings and tossing a complete game. Attacking hitters early and often (19 of 26 first pitch strikes), Schutte would finish with a final line of 7 IP, 2 H, 8 K, 2 BB, and 1 R, showcasing a solid 3 pitch mix (FB/CB/SL) throughout the day. The FB showed great ride at the top of the zone, getting several whiffs above the zone, while also being spotted well in all 4 quadrants for called strikes. When thrown away to LHH, it would also show a bif of natural arm-side run. The CB and SL were both sharp, each showing good, distinct shapes. The Georgia was confident throwing both in any count, using them early for called strikes and as weapons late in the count as chase pitches below the zone. The only real trouble that Schutte ran into was to open the 7th when he allowed back-to-back line drive singles. The junior would bounce back though, getting three consecutive ground outs to end the game. Pitching with a ¾ slot, Schutte is a quick worker on the mound, who gets great extension thanks to a strong lower half and pitches with a repeatable delivery. At the plate, Schutte delivered two RBI singles on the day out of the cleanup spot, getting into his front side consistently and driving the ball into center and left, respectively, showing an ability to make an impact as a 2-way player.
