Watching Nick Romero pitch is one experience everyone should get to have when talking about high-level dominance on the mound. Romero continues to solidify himself as one of the most polished left-handed arms in the region, turning in a complete-game performance against the #18-ranked Patrick Henry Patriots (Power 25). The 6’3” southpaw allowed just four hits, zero runs, and struck out six in a poised outing that showcased both his composure and competitive edge. Deception was the name of the game, as Romero’s advanced feel for his off-speed, particularly a sharp, well-located curveball, kept hitters off balance throughout. His fastball, firm and well-placed, consistently disrupted timing and prevented the Patriots from ever settling in at the plate. What stood out to me the most was Romero’s ability to pitch with confidence and get stronger as the game progressed, a sign of both physical maturity and mental toughness. The Westmont commit attacks the zone with purpose, and the FB/CB combo he commands so well is a legitimate out-getting mix at the next level. After posting a stellar 1.08 ERA last season, Romero appears locked in once again, opening his 2025 campaign with a 0.76 ERA and plenty of momentum.
