2/23/19: 6-foot-5, 220-pounds, Brubaker carries his weight well, and has a workhorse frame. More than 90 percent of his 87 pitches in the outing were fastballs as he was able to drive the pitch to the bottom of the zone from a high slot at 88-92 without much effort. His delivery is athletic, remaining linear throughout while getting strong drive off the back side. He gathers over the rubber after working over the rubber with a slight hunch before a high-elbowed scap-pinch ignites the quick arm. Facing a lineup that had struck out 17 times the night before, Brubaker enjoyed the eagerness of each of the hitters to swing early in counts, and calmly worked through seven innings allowing just three hits, striking out three, walking two, and not allowing a run. The slider flashed fringe-average future-offering in warm-ups with 10/4 shape, but Brubaker did not show much willingness to go to it. He was able to sink the fastball at times to the arm side, but the pitch mostly showcased single-plane run that was manipulated. His athleticism with such a large, durable frame stood out the most, and his quick arm will likely produce even more velocity in the future. (S Hunt)
