The Long Beach State signee had moments during this outing where he was in complete control, but also had moments where he labored against what is a very good lineup. His slider (75-79mph) flashes sharp biting action with some late tilt. He induced seven whiffs with the pitch over his four innings. The fastball (86-88mph) showed life as it entered the zone at times, almost like a cutter without losing velocity on it. It’s a tall-and-fall delivery from a high 3/4 slot that he repeats consistently. The slider comes from the same slot causing deception for hitters.
