Going into this game, having only seen Oakmont play once early in the year, Wilson was set to get the start against Bear River. Lots of buzz around both starting pitchers in this game, and it surely didn’t disappoint. There wasn’t much hitting going on for the Bear River line up against Wilson, he went the distance but couldn’t finish the whole game as he had to get pulled after 6.2 IP. This was the most dominant I’ve seen Wilson throw and the longest he’s gone since his previous outing. It’s a three pitch mix, he likes to get ahead with the fastball, Wilson isn’t the biggest of guys so his fastball comes out a little more firm than you think, it’s a whippy arm. A lot of his athleticism comes from Wilson being a middle infielder his whole life, which is why once he adds on weight and muscle he is going to be really effective at the next level. Wilson’s ability to throw strikes and keep his pitch count reasonable was the reason why he had 14 strikeouts this game, the tempo was moving quickly too, on both sides. Wilson’s fastball was sitting between 86-88 MPH T89 while maintaining his velocity into the last inning of the game. The CH was working in the 79-80 MPH range and his CB was between 74-76 MPH, both pitches he had total command of. All it took was a couple of sac bunts and some timely hits to get Oakmont three runs and secure a win over a talented Bear River team. Oakmont is going in the right direction as far as pitching and defense, it'll be a matter of time before the bats start to heat up. Wilson also added a 1-3 day at the plate to finish off a great game.

Wilson was the other starter for the opposing team who managed to still pitch a competitive game. Wilson has a three pitch mix that includes a fastball, curveball, & changeup. His offspeed played a huge part in being able to throw off the Whitney hitters, The curveball had more of a 11/5 movement with a changeup that dropped off the table. Wilson’s heater was between 86-88 MPH topping out at 89 on the day. Once he adds on a little more weight, Wilson will be a threat to a lot of teams down the road. Line on the day was four innings pitched with three strikeouts.
