The former Future Gamer has settled into his long 6’4” 180lb frame as a senior and the results are beginning to show his massive upside that we saw two years ago. Working mainly with the fastball and slider pairing, Walton got stronger and better as the game wore on. The fastball (87-89 T91mph) was, at times, electric and virtually impossible to hit. With extension nearing the 7’ range, the fastball got on hitters in a hurry. His ability to spot it for called strikes has improved vastly in the last year. Induced whiffs and weak contact after settling down in the third inning when the slider wasn’t on during the first two innings pitched. Beginning in the third inning the slider was unhittable, showing late diving action into the back foot of lefties while dying away from righties. The most impressive part of the outing, aside from the CG on 88 pitches with 10 K’s that included four 1-2-3 innings, was his improved command of the fastball. All misses were down in the zone, nothing was above the waist on a called ball. While not nibbling, Walton was able to establish the strike zone from black-to-black with a few calls off the plate.
