After missing the bulk of last season, Urbon is fully healthy again and has knocked off most of the rust from missing so much time a year ago. Nothing has changed with respect to pitch recognition and his ability to lay off pitches outside of the zone. He doesn’t chase nor put bad swings on pitches that he’s going after. It’s a compact, yet strong, swing that results in consistent barrels. He hunts fastballs and has the ability to adjust to offspeed and get a good swing off (see video) by staying loose and utilizing his fast hands. Gets and keeps his barrel on plane through the zone consistently while showing the ability to manipulate the barrel’s plane when needed. Very good understanding of the strike zone and advanced plate discipline. Had a huge two-RBI double that gave his team an early lead. In the outfield he takes good routes with a good first step to the ball reading it off the bat quickly and has enough arm strength to stay in center field.
