Wyatt Rosales took the mound for Cypress High School and delivered a strong and composed outing, working 4.1 innings while striking out three and filling up the strike zone at an impressive 68% strike rate. The right-hander showed poise and a competitive edge throughout his outing, attacking hitters early in counts and maintaining a steady tempo that kept opposing bats in check. Rosales showcased a well-rounded three-pitch mix that he commanded effectively against both right- and left-handed hitters. His fastball, sitting 83-87 mph, played well at the top of the zone when elevated, generating late swings and occasional swings-and-misses. What really stood out, however, was his hard, firm slider in the 74-78 mph range, which he showed the ability to pinpoint to both sides of the plate. This offering gave hitters fits, as it tunneled well off his fastball and broke with late bite, particularly effective as a putaway pitch or to induce weak contact. While the notes don’t detail the third pitch specifically, his ability to mix three offerings kept hitters guessing and allowed him to navigate through the lineup multiple times. Standing on the mound, Rosales carries himself with presence and maturity, giving his team a chance to win every time out. As he continues to develop physically and sharpen his command, particularly with his secondary stuff, there’s reason to believe he can make another jump in velocity and overall effectiveness. Wyatt Rosales profiles as a strike-throwing left-hander with pitchability, mound presence, and a breaking ball that already flashes as an out pitch, making him a must-watch arm for Cypress this season and beyond.
