VonderHaar

It was my first look at Vonderhaar, and I was impressed with his tools at the plate. Vonderhaar has an athletic build, and knows how to control his body with fluid actions at the plate. Vonderhaar had 3 hits on the day. His approach is middle-middle as he does a good job staying level through his swing, allowing him to not pull off. On his swinging outs he would get jammed and this is more of a testament to his approach, sometimes good hitters get eaten up because they let the ball travel, and this is what Vonderhaar does. He is an aggressive swinger with a violent swing, he is looking to do damage on every swing no matter the count. He creates great force with his hand movement, as he likes to hold the bottom of the bat handle to create that whip on his swing. At the point of contact, he does a nice job staying on his backside, really using every part of his body to stay on & through the baseball. Even with a violent swing, he does a beautiful job at staying short to the baseball, being connected throughout his swing. On the year he is hitting with an AVG of .481 with a HR and 5 RBI through 8 games.  He had quality at bats all game and is not a player that will miss the baseball with his plus bat to ball skills. Vonderhaar really impressed today, and he has a great foundation in his swing profile that can only get better.
