2/25/25
Sandoval’s first at-bat set the tone for his day at the plate. Working a full count, he displayed impressive patience and discipline, waiting for a pitch he could drive. He then drove an outside pitch to the right field wall for a double, demonstrating not only his ability to handle pitches on the outer half of the plate but also his ability to hit the ball to the opposite field with power. This ability to use the entire field is a key tool for a hitter. In his second at-bat, Sandoval showed his situational awareness and willingness to put the team first. With a runner on base, he successfully executed a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runner into scoring position. This selfless approach highlights his maturity and understanding of the game, knowing when to prioritize team needs over individual stats. By his third at-bat, Sandoval was back to swinging the bat with authority. He ripped a hard-hit single up the middle, showing great bat speed and a short, controlled swing. His ability to make consistent contact and drive the ball speaks to his potential as a well-rounded hitter who can produce in various situations. Sandoval’s swing is aggressive yet controlled, his aggressive approach at the plate allows him to generate good bat speed, while his control keeps him from over-swinging or getting too pull-happy. This balanced approach makes him a threat in the batter’s box, with the potential to hit for both average and power as he continues to develop.
