Uncommitted. It’s absurd what Dexter McCleon JR. can do at only 14 years old. The tool set is ludicrous, and it was on full display at the 16u National Championship over the week. The 2028 phenom was a standout on the mound and at the plate. Racked up multiple loud 90+ exit velocity extra-base hits to all parts of the field utilizing his gap-to-gap approach. In the quarterfinals of bracket play, McCleon Jr. put an electric turn on a ball for a towering pull-side home-run way into the trees. The incoming freshman is a must-see when on the field and will be a force to be reckoned with, entering High School and so forth.
Positional Profile: OF/RHP
Body: 6-1, 190-pounds.
Hit: RHH. Tall, neutral setup with hands in front. Leg lift load with a coil around the back hip. Flat bat path through the zone with good hand speed. Sprayed the ball around the field, showed good loft to the pullside. 78.3 mph bat speed with 20 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 98 max exit velocity, averaged 91.4 mph. 354' max distance.
Arm: RH. OF-89 mph. 3/4 arm action, powerful arm, smooth release
Defense: Presents glove early, quick transfer
ATH: 6.62 runner in the 60. 1.65 and 3.74 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 28.10 max vertical.
Positional Profile: OF/1B Very rare talent with easy 5 tool potential.
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Large frame (broad shouldered, long levered). D1/Pro type body currently with much more strength to add.
Delivery: Smooth delivery that builds pace gradually for ease of operation. Body control and direction due to efficient up+down+out phases are well ahead of most his age. Stacks backside during lengthy stride and is a closed foot lander (rare trait that allows more explosive rotation & range of motion).
Arm Action: RH. Mid depth, full circle arm action with fast twitch fibers and solid decel.
FB: T85, 82-84 mph. Running action, good extension, gets there quickly. T2174, 2063 average rpm.
SL: 71-73 mph. Gradual sweep, true lateral shape. T2055, 1901 average rpm.
CH: 78-79 mph. Edge to edge fade. T1916, 1869 average rpm.
Positional Profile: OF/1B Very rare talent with easy 5 tool potential.
Body: 6-2, 180-pounds. Large frame (broad shouldered, long levered). D1/Pro type body currently with much more strength to add.
Hits: RHH. Tall posture, narrow base, slightly open setup with good rhythm in the hips and hands. Hands start just off back shoulder close to eventual hitting slot. Well sequenced forward move with elastic, well timed hip/shoulder separation. Gets on plane early due to lower half sink, allowing hips & shoulders (slight incline) to match balls downhill trajectory. Natural loft to path with standout hand-eye.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 83.3 MPH. 358' max distance. Ball carries with exceptional loft to all fields.
Arm: RH. OF-82 mph. Long, loose 3/4 arm action that builds momentum gradually. Future top of scale arm.
Defense: Good footwork for age, consistently makes catches in the pocket with good momentum through ball and direction. Effortless actions.
