Gardner-Webb commit. In the home-half of the 1st inning in a one-run deficit, Newell would step up to the plate and ambush the first pitch he saw. Sending it into the trees behind the left-field wall for a towering solo HR, knotting things back up at one a piece. The RHH syncs up and creates good separation to deliver a well-leveraged barrel. Which generates easy carry to the pull-side. Newell put together quality PAs all afternoon long and was an extremely tough out in the 2-spot. The recent Gardner-Webb commit holds a mature approach at the plate with an impressive hit/power combo to match. Newell brings a plethora of tools to the top of the order for a stout Eagles lineup, that is 4-0 to open region play.
