SS Parker Roop (Normal University, 2027) has been one of the biggest risers and performers for our staff all summer long. There’s plenty of upside in his 6-foot, 158-pound frame with lean and wiry levers, and the left-handed swing continues to trend in the right direction, finding multiple barrels for home runs on the weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 159-pound shortstop took some loud swings Thursday afternoon. Was all over the barrel with a no doubt home run to his pull-side. Showed his speed with a triple later on in the afternoon followed up with a two strike single later. Showed well at our Central IL Summer ID with a 95.6 exit velo. Soft hands and arm that will play at short.

MIF Parker Roop (Normal University, 2027) is a name that emerged as a high-follow in Illinois’ 2027 class after a strong showing at the Peoria Preseason ID, followed by multiple in-game looks for the Pioneers this past spring. Roop stands in a high-upside frame with long, wiry levers and plenty of room for added strength still to come at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. A left-handed hitter, he has all kinds of ease and fluidity in his swing, producing a max exit velocity of 95.6 mph (avg. 86.7 mph). He showed big improvement in his 60 time, running a 7.14 which was an increase from his 7.42 60 time in the winter. Defensively, he showed actions up the middle with a confident glove and a quality arm across the diamond (84 mph). Roop is an uncommitted name to keep an eye on the rest of his prep career.
