This Tuesday, July 8th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Central Illinois Summer ID at the Corn Crib in Normal, IL. This is an open event for all high school classes (2026-29), and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.

EVENT HISTORY

We've been hosting this event for the past 11 years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the Prep Baseball Future Games and Illinois State Games. Among the players in attendance at this event in 2024, there are already 14 commitments among them.

Ryan Duncheon Jr. C / RHP / East Peoria, IL / 2026

From 5/10/25: "...Illinois State commit, currently slotted at No. 26 in the state’s junior class. Stands in a 6-foot-1, 191-pound frame with strength. Started in right field and batted third. Finished the day 2-for-3 with a home run, triple, two RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Right-handed hitter at the plate, showed easy power throughout the game, sending the home run over the right field wall and his triple to the left/center gap, quality plate discipline throughout. Also found an inning on the mound to close the game out, stretch-only delivery, quick and up-tempo mover, clean arm path with acceleration out front. Fastball sat in the upper-80s, touching 90 mph once, also mixed in a slider at 78 mph with sharp action."

We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.

2025 ROSTER

This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past.

Parker Roop SS / RHP / Normal University, IL / 2027

From 5/10/25: "...Ranked No. 99 in the state’s sophomore class, stands in a high-upside, 6-foot, 155-pound frame with a high-waist and plenty of room for strength to come. Started at shortstop and batted seventh. Finished the day 1-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch. Left-handed hitter, fluid and easy swing with a toe-tap trigger, hands worked direct to the ball with a flatter path through the zone. Impressed defensively during in-and-out with his range and actions, showing a confident glove with an accurate arm across the diamond. High follow sophomore heading into the summer."

Lucas Beaty C / SS / Normal Community, IL / 2027

From 5/7/25: "...Uncommitted, stands in an athletic 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with strength. Played third base and batted in the nine hole. Continues to look the part defensively, moves around well, shows a sure-handed glove with a clean transfer and an arm that plays accurate and strong arm across the diamond. Right-handed hitter, did not tally a hit, but barrelled multiple balls to center field and right field in the game for flyouts. Hands stay short to the ball with an uphill path that looks to do damage at the plate. A name-to-know in the sophomore class."

Brody Phillips SS / RHP / Arcola, IL / 2027

From 8/6/24:

Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 5-9, 158.7-pounds.
Delivery: Deliberate mover, uphill tilt, firm plant leg, upright upper body, fluid delivery.
Arm Action: RH. Arm stab at the back hip, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T82, 80-81 mph. Feel for the zone, plays straight. T1745, 1627 average rpm.
CB: 67-69 mph. True 12/6 shape. Tight spin. T1933, 1732 average rpm.
SL: 70-70 mph. Shorter break, some 10/4 shape. T1926, 1926 average rpm.
CH: 65-70 mph. Plays with arm-side fade. T1822, 1617 average rpm.

Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a Prep Baseball showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.
