Prep Baseball NC was on hand at Charlotte Latin HS in Charlotte , NC on Sunday, June 30th  for the QC Corndogs Scout Day. The event was made possible by the Corndogs staff and their committment to generating exposure for their athletes. We appreciate their support of Prep Baseball North Carolina in our mission to promote players and help them achieve their goals of playing at the next level. During the event, position players worked out at their defensive positions, hit BP, ran a laser timed 60, and pitchers threw controlled bullpens. 

The Corndogs Scout Day brought together players from the 2027-2028 graduating classes for a comprehensive evaluation of one of North Carolina's premier travel baseball organizations. Throughout the day, players participated in a pro-style workout designed to provide measurable data, updated evaluations, and video coverage for college coaches and professional scouts following the organization.

The event began with offensive workouts where multiple rounds of batting practice were tracked using TrackMan technology, collecting detailed batted-ball metrics and analytics while video captured each swing for further evaluation.

Position players then moved into defensive and running evaluations, featuring laser-timed 60-yard dash and 10-yard split data to measure athleticism and explosiveness. Defensively, players worked through position-specific drills and game-action scenarios, allowing the Prep Baseball scouting staff to evaluate athleticism, footwork, hands, exchanges, arm action, and overall defensive ability while recording arm-strength metrics across the field.

Pitchers concluded the workout with controlled bullpen sessions that incorporated TrackMan data and video analysis, providing detailed insight into pitch metrics, movement profiles, velocity, and overall arsenal effectiveness.

Over the coming days, Prep Baseball NC will continue releasing scouting notes, player reports, and statistical leaderboards from the Corndogs Scout Day as we highlight the top performers and emerging prospects from the event.

TOP 60-YARD DASH

Traditionally, the 60-yard dash has been the in-event standard to help measure a player's speed tool. We implemented three timing gates at the 10- and 30-yard splits, to capture athletes’ quickness, explosiveness and reaction time. From there, we will calculate an athlete’s top-end speed in miles per hour. While the measurement still has its utility, the 10-yard split has started to become more and more applicable in determining the player's burst and reaction time in-game, whether that's in the outfield or on the basepaths.
