Quick Hits: 2026 New Orleans Rising Stars ID

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

New Orleans, LA - On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to Tulane University, to host our third rising stars event of the summer with our New Orleans Rising Stars ID, which featured over 20 players in the state's 2030-2031 classes.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a 60-yard dash, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball.  Each pitcher threw a bullpen with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their pitching data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top performers from Tuesday's event.

+ 2030 Townsend Boyd (Catholic BR)

Boyd turned in one of the more polished offensive looks we've seen from a young player this summer. The 2030 catcher gets the barrel into the zone early and creates effortless lag through the hitting zone, allowing the swing to work with both rhythm and efficiency. He consistently stayed through the middle of the field and seemed to be on time with nearly every swing he took, showing an advanced feel for the barrel and strike-zone awareness for his age. Behind the plate, Boyd impressed as well with advanced catch-and-throw skills that point to a bright future on both sides of the baseball.

+ 2028 Derrick Carley Jr. (John Curtis Christian)

Carley Jr. was one of the more impressive young athletes in attendance and showed why he's a name to know in Louisiana's 2030 class. The fast-twitch prospect consistently found the barrel throughout the day, with his best contact coming back through the middle of the field while producing exit velocities up to 92.4 mph. His athleticism translated to the mound as well, where he worked with a short, quick arm action and showed the ability to repeat his delivery. The young right-hander also flashed advanced feel for spin, ripping off breaking balls with spin rates north of 2,500 rpm to go along with an 81-84 mph fastball.

+ 2028 Braylon Jeffrey (John Curtis Christian)

Jeffrey emerged as one of the biggest offensive standouts at the event and put together one of the loudest rounds of batting practice we saw all day. The young slugger works with an aggressive turn of the barrel and generates obvious bat speed through the zone, allowing the power to show up consistently in contact. Despite the present impact, he showed the ability to stay gap-to-gap and let the swing work naturally instead of selling out for pull-side power. Jeffrey produced an event-best 98.6 mph exit velocity and launched balls as far as 360 feet, giving an early glimpse at the kind of offensive ceiling he possesses.

+ 2028 Cohen Creppel (Holy Cross)

Creppel turned in one of the more impressive all-around performances at this year's New Orleans Rising Stars ID and continues to look like one of the top athletes in Louisiana's 2030 class. The future Holy Cross School standout possesses plenty of fast-twitch athleticism, which was on full display as he posted an event-best 6.84 sixty-yard dash and fired throws up to 88 mph from the outfield. Offensively, Creppel showed a simple and repeatable approach with a line-drive oriented swing that worked best through the middle of the field. It's an exciting blend of athleticism, speed, and present baseball skill that should make him a fun player to follow over the next several years.
