Senior Future Games Tryout: Preview

Will Blanton OF / 3B / Cathedral Catholic San Diego, CA / 2027

From 3/10/26: "Blanton turned in a productive performance in Cathedral Catholic’s win, driving in two runs while squaring up a pair of balls right on the nose. One came on a base hit, while the other was a line drive to left-center that was struck well but turned into an out. He also beat out a fielder’s choice that plated a run during CC’s late-inning rally that helped them pull out the victory. The left-handed hitter continues to stand out for his ability to consistently find the barrel and use the whole field. Blanton swings aggressively but maintains control through contact, allowing his bat-to-ball skills to play against a variety of pitches. He first stood out last spring at the Boras Classic, and in a deep Cathedral Catholic lineup, he can sometimes go overlooked, but the tools are real. Defensively, he adds value with a 91 mph arm from the outfield (clocked at the San Diego Preseason All-State), rounding out a profile that continues to trend upward."

Brody Brehm RHP / 1B / Rancho Bernardo High, CA / 2027

From 3/31/26: "Brody started the day with a line drive base hit up the middle off an 87mph FB. He went with the pitch and started a rally for RB where they ended up scoring 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Brody has a big and physical frame. He has an extremely strong and powerful LH swing, but stays short and through the ball, looking to do damage the other way. He had loud contact all day with his basehit up the middle, a hard line drive to CF that was caught on the run, and a sac fly to LF. The sacrifice fly was in the bottom of the 6th to help RB gain a much needed insurance run. Brody hunts fastballs, and doesn’t miss. The junior made a great play at 1B where he laid out and picked a hard line drive one-hopper, tossing it to the pitcher at first for the out. He can swing it, and is an athlete. So far on the year Brehm is sporting a .435/.583/.1.322 slash line along with 1HR and 10 RBIs. He was getting deep into counts and grinding at-bats all day, proved by his 11BB to 5K ratio. Brody Brehm is a name to watch as the season finishes out, and looks to be one of the better LHH in the San Diego area."

Elliot Cresap 1B / LHP / Upland High, CA / 2027

From 7/30/25: 

Positional Profile: 1B/LHP Intriguing two-way player with upside on both sides of the ball. Power LH bat in the box. LHP that creates deception off a three-pitch mix.
Body: 6-6, 242-pounds. Large, well-proportioned frame with strength present in lower half.
Hit: LHH. Sets up upright in a slightly closed stance with hands sitting behind the back shoulder and barrel resting flat above. Initiates the load by shifting weight into the back side as the hands load back and the barrel tips vertical. Uses a small leg lift for timing into a controlled stride forward, with the stride foot opening slightly as it lands. Hips fire as the back knee drives, creating good separation with the hands. Hands work short to and long through the zone on a slightly uphill path. Displays quick hands with present bat speed, using a pull-side approach that leverages a big frame and shows power to the gaps. 70 mph bat speed with 13 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 max exit velocity, averaged 85.6 mph. 391' max distance.
Arm: LH. INF-66 mph. Lengthy arm path that works a low 3/4 slot. Has the ability to tap into additional arm strength, particularly evident from the mound.
Defense: Stays tall throughout the play, showing soft hands with a clean two-handed gather. Displays short strides and direct footwork.
ATH: 16.90 max vertical.

Ryder Fredriksen OF / 3B / JSerra Catholic, CA / 2027

From 1/28/26: "Fredriksen showcased some of the loudest tools and metrics of the entire event, pairing physicality with real athleticism. The 6-1, 200-pound frame is strong and well put together, and it translated directly into impact at the plate. Fredriksen posted a 103 mph max exit velocity during BP with an impressive 97.3 mph average, while driving the ball to a max distance of 365 feet. His swing is powered by elite hand speed (24-25 mph) and bat speed, averaging 76.9 mph and peaking at 82.5 mph, allowing him to consistently impact the baseball with authority. Despite his size, Fredriksen moves well, clocking a 7.11 60-yard dash, and he showed the defensive tools to fit a RF profile, unleashing 80 mph throws to the bag with carry and accuracy. The combination of physical strength, bat speed, and functional athleticism makes Fredriksen one of the more intriguing power bats in attendance, with a profile that continues to trend upward."

Benjamin Gonzalez C / RHP / Warren High, CA / 2027

Positional Profile: C/RHP Athletic catcher with fast defensive actions and a developing offensive profile as strength continues to come.
Body: 5-11, 147-pounds. Long, lean build with wiry athleticism and significant room to add size and strength.
Hit: RHH. Narrow, balanced base with the lead foot slightly open. Back elbow works lower as the hands stay loose in the setup. Uses an aggressive leg lift to initiate the load, gathering into the backside as the body coils. Hands work with some length before accelerating through the zone. Hips fire efficiently while he maintains an upright posture through contact.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 87.0 mph. 338' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-77 mph. Compact, quick arm stroke from a three-quarter slot. Ball comes out fast with a clean release and consistent carry.
Defense: 1.97-2.12 pop times. Explodes out of the crouch with urgency, getting into throwing position quickly. Displays athletic movement patterns behind the plate with fluid footwork and confident catch-and-throw actions.
ATH: 7.91 runner in the 60. 1.85 and 4.32 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 19.10 max vertical.

Emmett Maloney RHP / SS / Mira Costa High, CA / 2027

Positional Profile: RHP/SS Repeatable mechanics with a strong 3-pitch mix. Has feel for all pitches in the zone.
Body: 6-1, 175-pounds. Tall and lengthy frame.
Delivery: Tall and slower delivery. Stays smooth until front foot strike. Once the front foot strikes he is explosive through the catcher. Stays tall and rides the back side well.
Arm Action: RH. Slower arm action. Lags behind until the front foot lands and his arm is up in a powerful position. Release is straight over the top.
FB: T88, 86-87 mph. Heavy fastball with feel for it in the zone. Gets on hitters quick. T2080, 1964 average rpm.
CB: 71-73 mph. Bigger CB with 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock profile. T2111, 2050 average rpm.
CH: 80-81 mph. CH has both strong fade and depth. Tunnels with the fastball. T1980, 1763 average rpm.

Austin Olness SS / 3B / Mira Costa, CA / 2027

Positional Profile: SS/3B Leadoff hitter profile with speed and athleticism as big part of game.
Body: 6-2, 192-pounds. Long, athletic build with lean strength and significant room for continued physical development.
Hit: RHH. Relaxed, athletic setup with subtle knee flex and a slightly open lead foot. Hands start high near the head. Uses a compact toe-tap to initiate the load, settling into the back hip while the hands stay engaged. Lands with flex in the front leg and transitions smoothly into an efficient, leveraged swing. Upper half finishes with strength and control, producing loud contact through the zone. 65.9 mph bat speed with 10 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 78.9 mph. 364' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-81 mph. Compact arm stroke from a lower three-quarter slot with natural arm-side movement. Throws show strength, carry, and playable accuracy.

Max Rincon 3B / 1B / Sierra Canyon School, CA / 2027

From 1/3/26: "The La Mirada Preseason All-State was an impressive overall showing for Rincon, highlighted by a standout day in the batter’s box. He put together a consistent BP round, driving hard line drives with some loft to the middle of the field, and posted a 96.1 mph max exit velocity. Rincon’s swing has made noticeable and positive adjustments since his last look at the OC Summer ID. He’s widened into a stronger, more stable base, while his hands now start in a lower, more relaxed position, allowing him to create better separation with a bigger leg kick. That sequence has helped him load more effectively into his back leg and generate improved power through the zone. Those adjustments translated directly to game action, where Rincon smoked an opposite-field double and followed it up with a hard lineout the other way, showing his ability to use the entire field. The refined swing has clearly extended his time in the hitting zone, opening the door for a more consistent, all-fields approach. Defensively, Rincon also showed progress, looking more comfortable at third base in this viewing. His arm strength ticked up from 75 to 79 mph, reinforcing the improvements on both sides of the ball. Overall, Rincon’s recent adjustments point to a player trending in the right direction with growing offensive impact and improved defensive confidence."

Brayden Stewart SS / 3B / Santa Margarita Catholic High School, CA / 2027

Positional Profile: 3B/SS MIF with strong actions on both sides of the ball.
Body: 5-11, 193-pounds. Strong build with present athleticism throughout.
Hit: RHH. Engages the lower half well in the setup, standing shoulder-width apart with hands held high just behind the ear. Uses a toe-tap stride for timing and balance. Level swing through the zone, producing hard contact and consistent low line drives. 65.6 mph bat speed with 22 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 88 max exit velocity, averaged 82.5 mph. 290' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-74 mph. Works from a low 3/4 arm slot, creating natural sink on throws across the diamond.
Defense: Shows the ability to get around the baseball with fluid, controlled movements. Displays a natural look in the field with smooth, confident actions.
ATH: 7.09 runner in the 60. 1.73 in the 10 yard split. 23.90 max vertical.

Dylan Yencho 1B / OF / Laguna Beach, CA / 2027

From 4/1/26: "Yencho had a standout performance, recording five hits with three doubles in one game while also earning a two-inning save against La Mirada. On the week, he hit .786 with 11 hits, five doubles, eight RBIs, and six runs. On the season, he is hitting .481 with one home run, nine doubles, 16 RBIs, and 13 runs, while also posting a 1.75 ERA with 15 strikeouts and two saves over 12 innings."
