On Wednesday, July 14th, Prep Baseball of South Carolina hosted the Team South Carolina Trials at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.  This event serves as a key evaluation platform, helping identify prospects for several of the summer’s premier invite-only showcases, including the PB Senior Games, Top Prospect Games, PB Junior Future Games, PB Senior Future Games, and the PB Future Games.  The Trials featured players from the Class of 2027 through the Class of 2029.

During the event, position players participated in a professional-style workout that included a comprehensive defensive evaluation. Infielders and outfielders fielded ground balls and made throws, with arm strength recorded using a Stalker radar gun. Catchers executed throws to second base, with both arm strength and pop times measured.

Hitters underwent swing analysis with Blast Motion, while all ball flight data was recorded using TrackMan.  Speed and explosiveness were assessed through Vald Performance lasers, capturing 10-30-60-yard sprint splits, along with jump metrics.

Pitchers threw a controlled bullpen session, where each pitch was tracked by TrackMan to analyze ball movement and overall performance.

Ethan Crosby 3B / 1B / Gray Collegiate Academy, SC / 2027 Crosby showcased a physical, durable build and a well-rounded skill set on both sides of the ball.  Offensively, Crosby added a 97.3 mph exit velocity and 354-foot max distance, highlighting the strength and power potential that make him an intriguing two-way prospect in the 2027 class.

Gavin Graham OF / RHP / Byrnes, SC / 2029 Offensively, Graham added a 96.6 mph exit velocity and 329-foot max distance, while his 83 mph outfield arm and athleticism further highlight his upside on both sides of the ball.

Aj Kipybida 1B / OF / North Myrtle Beach, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 174 / POS: 15 Kipybida brings an impressive blend of size, projection, and offensive upside to the 2027 class.  The 6-foot-4 right-handed hitter produced a 94.9 mph exit velocity and an impressive 370-foot max distance, showing present strength with plenty more power to come as he continues to fill out his frame.  He also moved well for his size, posting a 7.10 sixty that reflects his athleticism.

Tucker Siffri 1B / RHP / J. L. Mann High Academy, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 24 / POS: 1 Siffri continues to show one of the more intriguing two-way profiles in South Carolina's 2028 class.  Offensively, Siffri also produced a 96.3 mph exit velocity and 368-foot max distance, highlighting the strength and power that make him a legitimate two-way prospect moving forward.

Logan Taylor OF / RHP / Gilbert, SC / 2027 Taylor showcased an impressive combination of size, strength, and athleticism throughout the workout. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound right-handed hitter produced a 101.2 mph exit velocity and 348-foot max distance, demonstrating the ability to generate loud contact with present power. He also moved well for his size, posting a 1.66 ten-yard split that reflects his explosiveness and overall athleticism.

Walker Thomason OF / RHP / Rock Hill, SC / 2027 Rankings  StateRank: 44 / POS: 7 Thomason continues to show one of the more complete two-way profiles in the 2027 class.  At the plate, Thomason also produced a 99.1 mph exit velocity and an impressive 395-foot max distance, highlighting the power potential that complements his upside on the mound.

Angel Vargas SS / 2B / Clinton, SC / 2028 Rankings  StateRank: 105 / POS: 26 Vargas turned in one of the top athletic performances of the event, pairing quick-twitch actions with impressive offensive production. The right-handed hitter ran a 6.84 sixty with a 1.65 ten-yard split and an outstanding 25.6-inch vertical, while producing a 93.8 mph exit velocity and 353-foot max distance. His athleticism translates on both sides of the ball, where he recorded 82 mph from the outfield and 80 mph across the infield, giving him defensive versatility. The combination of speed, explosiveness, and offensive impact makes Vargas one of the more intriguing athletes in South Carolina's 2028 class.
