NorCal Future Games Tryout: Positional Analysis

On May 31st, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the NorCal Future Games Tryout at University of Pacific in Stockton, Cal. This was an invite-only event for 2028 graduates, and gave our staff an ample look at the area’s top prospects.

Today, we will we’re taking a look at all of the positional prospects from the event, along with a top-5 ranking of who impressed our staff the most.
TOP-5 POSITIONAL PROSPECTS
1. Aiden Tavares, Foothill (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: SS/3B Strong, athletic INF with fluid motions and ability to drive ball to all fields.
Body: 6-2, 207-pounds. Strong frame with proportionate strength.
Hit: RHH. Slightly open with feet just outside shoulders. Hands even with top of head. Coil into backside, and sits into lower half with a leg hold. Working through the inside of the baseball.
Power: 104 mph max exit velocity (96.4 avg.); 387-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 90 mph. Whippy arm out of a low three-quarter slot.
Defense: Smooth movements in the INF with a clear feel for the rhythm.
Athletic Testing: 6.92 runner in the 60-yard dash; 24.00-inch max vertical jump.
