Top Prospect Upperclass: Quick Hits, Catchers

Brody Bohannon, C/OF, 2027, Sequoyah
Uncommitted. Bohannon showed an advanced skill set from a solid 5’11”, 183lb frame. During BP, Bohannon produced plenty of loud contact with a max EV of 98.5. The swing gets on path quickly and stays in the zone forever. The pull side pop was evident in BP and translated in-game with a huge 3R HR to LF. Defensively, Bohannon tied for the lowest pop time with a 1.93. An efficient mover behind the dish, Bohannon utilizes clean footwork and elite body control to defend his position at a high level. The high floor uncommitted C will be a fun name to follow during the summer circuit.

Jakob Gonzalez, C/2B, East Coweta
Uncommitted. Gonzales showed an impressive BP round, using the entire field while consistently producing hard contact. He utilizes a leg-kick load and does a good job generating force into the baseball without sacrificing balance in the lower half. The swing worked with rhythm throughout, allowing him to stay under control while driving the ball with authority. Behind the plate, Gonzales showed efficient arm action and a compact, accurate delivery on throws, recording pop times ranging from 1.95-2.15.

Boogie Lowit, 1B/C, Pickens
Uncommitted. Lowit showed a clean, repeatable swing with balanced movements throughout the operation. He works with a smooth weight transfer into his front side, generating force into the swing while maintaining control of the barrel. Lowit produced a max EV of 98.5 mph and consistently found solid contact during batting practice. Defensively, he showed accurate throws to the target with pop times ranging from 2.07-2.18.

Coe Puckett, C/OF, 2027, Fellowship Christian
Uncommitted. Puckett showed one of the cleaner defensive rounds of the day, highlighted by consistently accurate throws to the bag, an 80mph arm, and a 1.94-2.01 pop time range. Puckett’s 6’1” frame shows present strength, but still has room to add more at 175lbs. An athletic mover in the frame, Puckett ran a 6.9 60-yd dash. During BP, Puckett showed a direct and repeatable swing path, with clear strength in the hands and lower half. The path allows Puckett to backspin the baseball gap to gap, and the bat speed creates juice to all fields. Swing translated to the game setting as Puckett laced a 2B of the base of the LCF wall. Intriguing high floor follow with projectability to be excited for.

Rigsby Booth, C/3B, 2027, Peach County
Uncommitted. Booth was impressive on both sides of the ball at the showcase. Behind the plate, he works hard to get into the right position and shows an above-average arm with good accuracy to match. At the plate, he demonstrates the ability to use the entire field with juice to the pull side. He shortens up with two strikes and does a good job of driving the ball the other way. Booth stuck to his approach throughout the day, working deep counts that resulted in multiple hits. He shows advanced bat-to-ball skills and consistently finds the barrel against quality pitching. Expect him to continue to improve with experience and development. He recorded a max EV of 98.2 and an average EV of 91.2 in an impressive showing in BP.

Andrew Moran, C, 2027, Mount Vernon
Uncommitted. At 5 foot 9 and 182 pounds Moran had a day as he showed out not only with his swing but also with some great plays as a catcher. Moran had great mechanics at the plate with a quality approach working the count with good discipline, along smooth compact barrel path with nice extension with his hands with a max EV of 96. During one of his at bats Moran stayed cool with a 2k approach and lined an RBI single to LCF, got his hands through an inside fastball to make the play. He also showed out as a catcher, throughout the game Moran developed a pattern of getting the ball back to the pitcher with urgency to keep his pitchers rhythm while also setting up a back pick to 1st base with 2 men on to find an out in a tough outing. Moran looked comfortable in the infield and exhibited good mechanics and tools while also being a true gamer with the small details of his play. Has a good ceiling in his development to play the game at a high level.
