Future Games Tryout, San Diego: Pitcher Analysis

On Saturday, May 30th, the Prep Baseball California team hosted the San Diego Future Games Tryout at San Diego State University in San Diego, Cal. This was an invite-only event for 2028 graduates, and gave our staff an ample look at the area's top prospects.

Today, we will we’re taking a look at all of the pitching prospects from the event, along with a top-5 ranking of who impressed our staff the most.
TOP PITCHING PROSPECTS
1. Luke Wooten, Scripps Ranch High (CA), 2028
Positional Profile: RHP/SS Wiry armed pitcher whose slider and changeup give him a chance to miss bats.
Body: 5-9.3, 184-pounds. Wiry, projectable frame with room to add strength.
Delivery: Throws from the stretch. Glove rests high, then drops low, starting at belt level. High leg kick with a slight twist that sinks well into the rear hip. Turns well with strong hip-shoulder separation. Quick wind-up with a balanced approach throughout.
Arm Action: RH. Lower 3/4 release. Very loose, snap-like release with a full-circle arm-back path.
FB: T89, 87-88 mph. Sharp ASR. T1951, 1800 average rpm.
SL: 75-77 mph. Sharp with downward break present. T2098, 1740 average rpm.
CH: 79-79 mph. Late dive that plays well off FB. T1010, 1010 average rpm.
