LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Another spring season of CIF High School baseball statewide has completed and the season was full of thrilling performances by both players and teams. Based on a season's worth of statistics, achievements, awards and records broken we at Prep Baseball California have received submissions/recommendations from high school coaches around the state to nominate their players for All-State recognition. 

Our staff reviewed and discussed the submissions/recommendations made by the coaches throughout the state and selected a pair of All-State teams: First and Second, along with an All-Freshman team. For a player to make one of these teams, they had to be directly submitted or recommended to our staff via their coaching staff.

With over 300 submissions, this was arguably the most difficult process our staff has gone through to select these teams. 

2026 SS, James Tronstein, of Harvard Westlake was announced as the California State Player of the Year. We also released our First Team All-State honorees.

Today, we announce our Second Team All-State honorees.

Second Team:

PITCHERS:

+ Evan Alexander, RHP, 2026, Harvard-Westlake (Stanford commit)

Stats: 55.1 IP, 10-1 record, 87 Ks, 1.10 ERA, two complete games, Mission League ERA leader (0.37), Mission League Pitcher of the Year

+ Tate Belfanti, LHP, 2027, Cypress High School (TCU commit)

Stats: 56 IP, 8-3 record, one save, 93 Ks, 1.25 ERA, one-hitter with 13 Ks vs. Los Alamitos, Crestview League Pitcher of the Year

+ Jeremiah Jennings, RHP, 2026, Madison High School (UCSB commit) 

Stats: 58.2 IP, 7-3 record, one save, 80 Ks, 1.79 ERA, no-hitter vs. Banning, Eastern League Pitcher of the Year

+Jake Brande, RHP, 2026, Rancho Christian High School (Cal Poly Slo commit)

Stats: 48 IP, 7-1 record, 72 Ks, 0.44 ERA, threw a perfect game vs. Hillcrest, Sunbelt League MVP and Pitcher of the Year

+Caden Lauridsen, RHP, 2027, Foothill High School 

Stats: 85.2 IP, 6-5 record, 57 Ks, 1.63 ERA, 0.887 WHIP, CG one-hitter vs. Vista Murrieta and a CG shutout vs. Servite in the playoffs, Crestview League Pitcher of the Year

+ Gary Morse, RHP, 2026, Orange Lutheran High School (Tennessee commit) 

Stats: 54.2 IP, 4-3 record, 91 Ks, 1.40 ERA, Set the school career strikeout record.

INFIELDERS:

+ Jacob Webster, SS, 2026, Oak Hills High School

Stats: .528 avg., 1.754 OPS, 38 hits, seven doubles, one triple, 10 homers, 38 RBIs, 18 runs, 34 BBs, 24 SBs, set school records for home runs (10), batting average (.528), stolen bases (24), and walks (34).

+ Jordan Vogel, SS, 2027, Arcadia High School 

Stats: .439 avg., 1.152 OPS, 43 hits, 11 doubles, three triples, one homer, 22 RBIs, 30 runs, 15 BBs, 18 SBs, broke the school's career hits record as a junior (116 and counting).

+ Jorge Luque, SS, 2026, Madison High School

Stats: .484 avg., 44 hits, six doubles, two homers, 28 RBIs, Eastern League Player of the Year

+ Logan Honikel, SS, 2027, El Modena High School (Kansas commit) 

Stats: .391 avg., 1.034 OPS, 34 hits, nine doubles, one triple, 16 RBIs, 25 runs, 20 BBs-7 Ks, nine SBs, school all-time hits leader, Crestview Conference Male Athlete of the Year and Freeway League MVP

Stats: .396 avg., 1.404 OPS, 19 hits, three doubles, seven homers, seven SBs, seven homers in 15 games

+ Andre Owens, CF, 2026, Santa Margarita Catholic High School (Oklahoma State commit) 

Stats: .301 avg., 1.024 OPS, 28 hits, three doubles, eight homers, 22 RBIs, 20 BBs, four SBs, set the school record for home runs in the BBCOR era

+ Ricardo Hurtado, OF, 2027, Orange Lutheran High School

Stats: .340 avg., .933 OPS, 33 hits, five doubles, three homers, 18 BBs, 15 BBs, six SBs

+ Adam Plascencia, OF, 2026, Buchanan High School (UCSD commit) 

Stats: .343 avg., .910 OPS, 35 hits, six doubles, three triples, one homer, 12 BBs, eight SBs, also went 4-3 with a 2.08 ERA and 31 Ks over 40.1 IP on the mound
