This Tuesday, June 9th, the Prep Baseball Illinois team is hosting the Chicagoland Summer ID at the Triton College in River Grove, IL. This is an open event for 2027-2030 high school grads, and gives our staff an ample look at the area's top players.
For a closer look at the showcase details and the technologies we'll have on-site to assist our in-person evaluation for all in attendance, click here. For a complete look at those registered to attend this event, view the most up-to-date version of the roster by clicking here.
EVENT HISTORY
We've been hosting this event for the past 13 years, and it's consistently provided us a look at prominent players who've later gone on to receive invitations to select events, like the Prep Baseball Future Games and Illinois State Games. Among those in attendence of the Chicagoland Summer ID event in 2025, 12 have already made commitments.
We're looking forward to checking in on the next crop of talent from this event to earn next-level attention in the coming weeks, months, and years.
ROSTER PREVIEW
This year's roster is already shaping up nicely, just like in years past. Perusing the event roster, we’re set to meet a majority of players who’ve not yet attended a Prep Baseball showcase, and we’re eager to add more names to our follow lists.

Cruz Cook SS / RHP / Harlem, IL / 2029From 5/15/26: "Uncommitted. Trim, high-waisted 6-foot, 165-pound frame. Batted leadoff and played third base for the Huskies. A twitchy, athletic left-handed hitter, Cook flashed feel for the barrel, including a hard lineout in his first at-bat. Posted a 4.58 home-to-first. Defensively, he showed reliable hands at the hot corner while his arm accuracy continues to develop. A name to follow in the state's freshman class moving forward." |

Tommy Gasner 1B / LHP / Huntley, IL / 2028From 8/05/25: |

Jenner Smith OF / RHP / Hersey, IL / 2028From 4/30/26: "Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 27 in the state. 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame, high-waisted with broad shoulders, room to continue to add strength. Started on the mound and battled over six innings, allowing five earned runs with two walks and nine strikeouts. Not an easy day to pitch with some rain and low-40s temperatures, Smith held 80-81 mph throughout all six innings, also mixing in a sharp 11/5 curveball he could land in the zone whenever he wanted, 68-70 mph. High-ceiling arm to follow that is also intriguing with the bat." |
