EMERSON, GA - The best uncommitted event in the country kicks off this week with Future Games Week at LakePoint in Georgia. Teams from across the country will be showcasing their skills in front of college coaches from across the country. The Team NorCal squad is takes the stage against Team South Texas.

Norcal vs. South Texas

Chase Cotton

Opening day for Team NorCal was against a very talented South Texas, hoping to come out on top this year, there was a ton of anticipation going into the game. Both teams took BP on the field before the game. After the batting practice, all infielders took part in a circuit workout, which consisted of a bunch of reps at a very game-like pace.

Chase Cotton got the start for Team NorCal, the RHP from Whitney High School has been on his summer circuit, including a great showing at the NorCal ProCase. Cotton came out the gate with a live fastball between 90-95 MPH, he struggled a bit early giving up some hard contact, but he still was able to showcase the fastball and secondaries. Cotton didn’t have his best outing, yet he’s still so talented and has an electric arm.

Riley Salvemini

Riley Salvemini came out of the bullpen following Chase Cotton, safe to say he made a name for himself. Salvemini is a two-way player in this event, but there’s just so much to work with when he steps on the mound. His fastball is heavy, and he works quick, mixing up speeds, and working backwards. He finished his outing with 26 pitches on the day and mauled down the South Texas team.

Rocco Zirelli
Rocco Zirelli came into the game to close it out for Team NorCal. The 6’4 righty from Junipero Serra High School went through two innings scoreless, dominating the strike zone with three pitches, and keeping the offense off balance. Besides his one walk, Zirelli was the only arm to put up a zero. He’s got a huge upside because he knows how to pitch to his strengths. The velocity will come in the future.
