NORTHPORT, AL - The third annual Prep Baseball Alabama Yellowhammer State Games once again brought together many of the state's top prospects from the 2027-2030 classes for two days of workouts, data collection, and game play at River Run Park in Northport, AL.

Throughout the event, players competed in front of the Prep Baseball Alabama staff while posting verified metrics and showcasing their abilities against some of the top talent from across the state. At the conclusion of the event, one positional player and one pitcher separated themselves from an exceptionally talented field and were selected as the recipients of the event's highest individual honors.

Prep Baseball Alabama is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Yellowhammer State Games Most Valuable Player and Most Valuable Pitcher, both presented by DICK'S Sporting Goods and Mizuno. As part of the recognition, each winner will receive a DICK'S Sporting Goods gift card and a custom Mizuno duffle bag featuring Prep Baseball embroidery.

Cohen Walker Named Most Valuable Player ⭐

Cohen Walker OF / Vestavia Hills, AL / 2027 Few players impacted the 2026 Yellowhammer State Games in as many ways as Cohen Walker. One of the event's top overall performers from start to finish, the Alabama-Birmingham commit excelled during both the workout and game portions of the event while showcasing one of the premier toolsets in attendance. Walker immediately turned heads during the showcase workout, posting a blazing 6.42-second 60-yard dash while recording a 99.9 mph exit velocity. The athletic outfielder consistently found the barrel throughout batting practice, showing quick hands, present strength, and the ability to drive the baseball with authority to all fields. His combination of speed, athleticism, and offensive impact placed him among the event's top performers in multiple statistical categories. He followed up an impressive workout by delivering arguably the most productive offensive showing of the event in game action. Walker went 4-for-5 at the plate, collecting a single, two triples, and a home run, impacting the game with both his bat speed and ability to take extra bases. His performance over the two days cemented his status as one of Alabama's top prospects in the 2027 class and further validated that reputation when he announced his commitment to Alabama-Birmingham just days after the event.

Graham Segraves Named Most Valuable Pitcher ⭐

Graham Segraves RHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2027 Graham Segraves continued to solidify himself as one of the premier uncommitted arms in Alabama's 2027 class with a dominant two-inning performance at the Yellowhammer State Games. Pitching in front of a strong contingent of college coaches, the right-hander showcased advanced stuff, quality metrics, and the ability to overpower hitters. Segraves worked with an 87-89 mph fastball, topping at 89.1 mph, and generated impressive underlying data that supports the pitch's ability to play above its velocity. The fastball featured quality ride and carry through the strike zone, consistently beating hitters and generating swings and misses. He paired it with a sharp, low-70s curveball that spun at nearly 2,600 RPM and showed significant horizontal bite, giving him a true swing-and-miss secondary offering. The results matched the stuff. Segraves fired 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and no runs while striking out five. He controlled the outing from start to finish and looked every bit the part of a high-level starter with both present effectiveness and long-term upside.
