2027 Positional Power: Breaking Down the Summer Rankings
With the release of the updated North Carolina Class of 2027 Rankings, the state's rising senior class has expanded to 350 players following another extensive evaluation period for the Prep Baseball scouting staff.
The summer provided a wide-ranging look at the class. Prep Baseball scouts evaluated players through ID events, tournament coverage, team workouts, and state, regional and national events. The NC/SC Border Battle, Senior Future Games and Tobacco Road State Games provided additional opportunities to see many of the state's top prospects perform in workout settings and live game action.
Now, we take the updated rankings and break them down by position.
Prep Baseball's overall rankings are not built as separate positional rankings. Players are evaluated against the entire class based on their present tools, performance, athleticism, projection and long-term prospect value. For the lists below, we have taken the Top 10 players at each primary position based on where they sit in the overall North Carolina rankings.
The result provides another look at the depth of the 2027 class, from established names near the top of the state rankings to prospects continuing to emerge as they prepare for their senior seasons.

Depth Throughout the 2027 Class
Breaking the rankings down by position offers a different perspective on the depth within North Carolina's 2027 class.
The pitching groups feature considerable committed talent, while several of the position-player lists still include intriguing uncommitted prospects heading into the fall. There will also continue to be movement. Physical development, performance, new looks and continued evaluation will shape the board as this class works toward its senior spring.
