The top players in South Carolina's 2029 class took the field last week at Founders Park on the campus of the University of South Carolina for the Prep Baseball East Coast Super Sophomore Games. The event brought together many of the top prospects from across the East Coast for one of the premier summer scouting opportunities in the country.

Team South Carolina opened the event with a comprehensive pro style workout that featured athletic testing, batting practice with TrackMan ball flight data, and defensive evaluations before competing in a three game schedule against some of the strongest regional talent. Representing the Palmetto State, Team South Carolina showcased its depth, athleticism, and competitiveness throughout the weekend.

QUICK HITTERS - POSITION PLAYERS(LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Jack Campbell SS / RHP / Blythewood, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 19 / POS: 6 Campbell put together a strong week from the workout through game action, showcasing a well-rounded skill set on both sides of the ball.  The right-handed hitter posted a 94.8 mph exit velocity, 360-foot max distance, and ran a 7.30-second 60-yard dash, highlighting his athleticism and offensive upside.  During game play, he jumped on a pitch for a leadoff double into the right-center field gap that left the bat at 94 mph, while also drawing a couple of walks over the three-game event and consistently putting together competitive at-bats.  Defensively, Campbell impressed with an 84 mph arm across the infield, showing the arm strength and actions to pair with his offensive tools.  His combination of athleticism, defensive ability, and mature offensive approach made for an outstanding all-around performance.

Alex Clamp OF / 3B / Lucy Beckham, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 59 / POS: 15 Clamp showcased one of the louder tool sets in the 2029 class, pairing size, athleticism, and power throughout the event.  The 6-foot-2 right-handed hitter ran a 6.79-second 60-yard dash, posted a 99.7 mph exit velocity, and drove the baseball 385 feet, highlighting his impressive combination of explosiveness and strength.  In game action, Clamp showed an aggressive offensive mindset, looking to get his best swings off early in counts and doing damage when he connected.  Defensively, he also flashed an 83 mph outfield arm, rounding out a high-upside profile with tools that project well as he continues to develop.

Gavin Graham OF / RHP / James F. Byrnes, SC / 2029 Graham continued to show why he is one of the more intriguing young prospects in the class, combining athleticism with a mature offensive approach.  The right-handed hitter ran a 6.93-second 60-yard dash while producing a 92.9 mph exit velocity, showing quick hands and the ability to impact the baseball.  In game action, he stayed direct to a middle-middle fastball, shooting his hands inside the baseball and lining a single into the left-center field gap, demonstrating a compact swing and the ability to use the middle of the field.  Graham's athleticism, feel to hit, and developing offensive tools continue to make him a player to follow in the 2029 class.

Noah Jarolimek SS / RHP / Hillcrest, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 2 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 41 / POS: 18 Jarolimek delivered one of the premier performances of the event, reinforcing why he is regarded as one of the top hitters/players in the country for the 2029 class.  The physical right-handed hitter posted a 102.2 mph exit velocity during the workout, then took his offensive game to another level in competition by collecting three hits in two games, with every ball coming off the bat at over 100 mph.  His performance included a double into the right-center field gap, a double ripped down the third-base line, and an opposite-field home run into the bullpen that left the bat at 103 mph.  Defensively, Jarolimek also impressed at shortstop, showing smooth actions and body control while ranging to his right to start a clean double play.  His combination of elite bat speed, all-fields power, and defensive ability made him one of the top overall performers of the week.

Ean Johanning C / 2B / Eastside, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 21 / POS: 2 Johanning showcased one of the better all-around catching performances of the event, flashing tools on both sides of the ball. Johanning posted a 99 mph exit velocity and 367-foot max distance during the workout, showing the strength and bat speed to do damage at the plate.  In game action, he took aggressive swings with an intent to impact the baseball, consistently looking to drive pitches rather than simply put them in play.  Behind the plate, Johanning was outstanding, recording the second-best pop time of the event at 1.96 seconds, while showing athletic actions, quality receiving skills, and an arm that projects well as he continues to develop.

Kyle Larson OF / RHP / Hilton Head, SC / 2029 Larson put together one of the better offensive weekends of the event, showcasing a mature approach and advanced feel to hit. The left-handed hitter ran an impressive 6.75-second 60-yard dash, then carried that athleticism into game action by collecting three hits while using a short, flat stroke to spray the baseball to all fields.  He consistently stayed on pitches and took what the defense gave him, showing an advanced ability to use the big part of the field.  Once on base, Larson put his speed to work, swiping multiple bases and creating constant pressure on opposing defenses.  His combination of bat-to-ball skills, athleticism, and instincts made him one of the top all-around performers in the 2029 class.

Tre' Lawrence OF / OF / Cane Bay, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 5 / POS: 2 OverallRank: 66 / POS: 14 Lawrence showcased one of the most impressive physical tool sets at the event and backed it up with outstanding game performance.  The 6-foot-2, 215-pound right-handed hitter ran a 6.81-second 60-yard dash, posted a 103.4 mph exit velocity, and drove the baseball 380 feet, highlighting an elite blend of size, strength, and athleticism.  In game action, he collected multiple hits, including a towering line-drive home run into the left-center field bullpen, while consistently showing advanced bat speed and the ability to impact the baseball.  Everything came off his bat with authority, reinforcing the high-end hit tools and middle-of-the-order offensive upside that make him one of the premier 2029 prospects in the country.

Mason Mackay SS / 2B / Northwestern, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 7 / POS: 4 OverallRank: 110 / POS: 38 Mackay showcased a polished all-around game, combining athleticism, offensive feel, and defensive actions throughout the event. The right-handed hitter ran a 6.95-second 60-yard dash while posting a 96.2 mph exit velocity, highlighting his quickness and developing strength.  In game action, he lined a base hit into center field with a handsy, line-drive approach that consistently kept the barrel in the zone.  Defensively, Mackay showed smooth, confident actions in the infield with quality footwork and body control, reinforcing his ability to stay on the left side of the diamond.  His combination of athleticism, feel to hit, and defensive polish made for an impressive overall showing.

PARKER MCCRORY C / SS / Spartanburg, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 10 / POS: 1 McCrory showcased valuable versatility throughout the event, proving capable of contributing both behind the plate and in the infield.  The right-handed hitter posted a 93 mph exit velocity with a 348-foot max distance during the workout while also recording pop times as low as 1.98 seconds.  In game action, he displayed a smooth, rhythmic swing, driving a pitch the other way for a double and showing the ability to stay through the baseball with authority.  His defensive flexibility, solid offensive approach, and athleticism make McCrory an intriguing prospect who impacts the game in multiple ways.

Carter Nash OF / OF / Dorman, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 47 / POS: 11 Nash showcased one of the most explosive tool sets in the 2029 class, combining elite bat speed with outstanding athleticism. The physical right-handed hitter ran a 6.70-second 60-yard dash, posted a 99.6 mph exit velocity, and drove the baseball 359 feet, highlighting the impact in his bat.  Every trip to the plate, he looked like a threat to do damage with his high-end bat speed and aggressive approach.  In game action, Nash lined a sharp base hit into left field, reinforcing the quickness of his hands and ability to get the barrel to the baseball.  His combination of power potential, speed, and athleticism gives him one of the higher ceilings in the class.

Will Nations OF / 3B / Lexington High, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 25 / POS: 6 Nations continued to show why he possesses one of the higher ceilings in the 2029 class, blending legitimate strength with developing athleticism.  The right-handed hitter ran a 6.85-second 60-yard dash, posted a 97.1 mph exit velocity, and drove the baseball 351 feet, highlighting the impact in his bat.  During game action, he delivered a two-strike RBI line drive into center field before later ripping another hard-hit RBI down the third-base line, showing the ability to compete in different counts and consistently produce quality contact.  With his physical tools, developing confidence, and high-end upside, Nations continues to trend in the right direction as one of the more intriguing young prospects in the class.

Patrick O'Connor C / OF / Wando, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 34 / POS: 4 O'Connor put together a productive offensive weekend while continuing to show value behind the plate.  The right-handed hitter posted a 92.2 mph exit velocity during the workout and followed it up in game action by collecting two singles and a double down the right-field line over the course of the event.  He consistently put together competitive at-bats against quality pitching.  Behind the plate, O'Connor also showed dependable defensive skills, recording pop times as low as 2.03 seconds, giving him a well-rounded profile as a developing catcher in the 2029 class.

Easton O'Quinn 3B / RHP / Suwannee, FL / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 4 / POS: 1 OverallRank: 39 / POS: 4 O'Quinn was one of the top offensive performers of the event, pairing a polished hit tool with impressive defensive versatility. The right-handed hitter posted a 100.6 mph exit velocity during the workout while running a 7.06-second 60-yard dash, showcasing the present strength and bat speed in his offensive profile.  He carried those tools into game action by collecting four hits over three games, with three of those coming off the bat extremely hard, consistently squaring up quality pitching.  Defensively, O'Quinn showed the ability to move around the infield with confidence, displaying the versatility to handle multiple spots.  His combination of a high-level hit tool, present strength, and defensive flexibility made him one of the most complete performers at the event.

Nathan Rowell SS / 3B / Aynor, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 3 / POS: 3 OverallRank: 45 / POS: 19 Rowell showcased the type of versatile game that helps teams win in multiple ways.  The switch-hitter ran a 6.94-second 60-yard dash, displaying quality athleticism to pair with a 92 mph exit velocity during the workout.  In game action, he narrowly missed a home run with a deep sacrifice fly, later worked a key walk, stole a base, and came around to score, impacting the game beyond the box score.  Defensively, Rowell continued to show the versatility to handle multiple infield spots, making him a valuable all-around player whose athleticism, instincts, and team-first style stood out throughout the event.

Camden Smith OF / C / eastside, SC / 2029 Smith's weekend was unfortunately cut short by injury, but he still showed plenty of intriguing tools during his time on the field. The right-handed hitter posted a 97 mph exit velocity during the workout, flashing the strength and bat speed to impact the baseball, while also displaying athleticism with a 7.28-second 60-yard dash.  In game action, he showed an aggressive approach at the plate, looking to get his best swings off and attack pitches with confidence.  Despite the abbreviated weekend, Smith's athleticism, offensive intent, and overall tool set stood out and point to significant upside as he continues to develop.

Owen Smith C / OF / Hammond, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 44 / POS: 7 Smith put together one of the strongest overall offensive workouts of the event before carrying that performance into game action. The athletic backstop posted a 96.4 mph exit velocity with an outstanding 91.7 mph average exit velocity, ranking 11th out of 175 players, while finishing 1st in Hard Hit% (88%) and 8th in Sweet Spot% (77%).  He continued to square the baseball up during games, barreling a line-drive single into center field that reinforced the quality of his bat-to-ball skills.  Behind the plate, Smith showed good athleticism and flexibility, receiving well while recording pop times as low as 1.99 seconds.  His combination of offensive consistency, advanced contact quality, and defensive athleticism made him one of the top catching prospects at the event.

Rhys Torgerson RHP / 3B / J. L. Mann High Academy, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 9 / POS: 1 Torgerson showcased a physical, strong frame and the defensive versatility to handle both corner infield positions with ease throughout the event.  The right-handed hitter consistently took aggressive swings at the plate, showing present strength and good rhythm in his offensive approach.  In Game 3, he flashed the power in his bat by driving a deep ball off the left-field wall for a double, highlighting the juice that projects as he continues to mature.  With his ability to play multiple infield spots, present strength, and developing power, Torgerson put together an impressive all-around week.

Parker Wetherbee RHP / SS / South Pointe, SC / 2029 Rankings  StateRank: 14 / POS: 2 Wetherbee showcased one of the premier defensive arms at the event, recording an impressive 91 mph across the diamond while displaying the arm strength and actions to stay on the left side of the infield.  The athletic right-hander also ran a 7.18-second 60-yard dash and posted a 91.4 mph exit velocity, showing a solid blend of athleticism and developing offensive ability. His defensive tools stood out throughout the weekend, with the arm strength separating him from much of the field. Wetherbee's combination of athleticism, defensive upside, and arm talent makes him one of the more intriguing infield prospects in South Carolina's 2029 class.
