Road to LakePoint: Previewing Team NC and Team Carolina for the Future Games
The most anticipated week on the amateur baseball calendar is nearly here. From July 21–26, the nation’s premier uncommitted talent will converge on the state-of-the-art complexes at LakePoint Sports in Emerson, Georgia, for the annual Prep Baseball Future Games and Senior Future Games.
With over 450 college coaches and scouts expected to line the backstops, the stage is set for a defining moment in these young athletes' recruiting journeys. Every single player in attendance shares two things in common: they are entirely uncommitted, and they represent the absolute elite of their respective classes.
This year, the Old North State is sending a powerhouse contingent down south. For the Future Games (2028 grads), Team NC will take the field looking to showcase the depth of homegrown talent. For the Senior Future Games (2027 grads), North Carolina will join forces with our neighbors to the south to form a loaded Team Carolina roster.
Both squads will jump straight into the fire, starting with a grueling pro-style workout to flash their tools, followed by a highly competitive three-game guarantee against the best uncommitted rosters in the country.
To get you ready for the action, we are breaking down our rosters by primary position groups over the coming days. From explosive arms on the mound to dynamic bats and elite defenders, here is your comprehensive preview of the North Carolina prospects set to turn heads at LakePoint.
Future Games Preview: Locking Down the Dirt
A great defense is built from the inside out, and the infielders representing North Carolina at LakePoint Sports bring an elite combination of glove-work, dynamic athleticism, and high-impact bats. As we continue our positional previews for the Prep Baseball Future Games (July 21-25), we focus on the dirt.
From slick-fielding shortstops with lightning-quick transfer times to physical corner infielder profiles possessing massive power potential, this uncommitted group is primed to anchor the defense and drive the offense. Here is a look at the infielders ready to showcase their tools in front of 450+ college coaches.
Team NC (Future Games - 2028 Grads)
- High School: Eastern Carolina Academy
- Scouting Report: A highly athletic left handed hitter who brings a ton of versatility to the diamond. On the dirt, Haynes showcases soft hands, smooth footwork, and plenty of arm strength to stick on the left side of the infield. Offensively, there is a ton of bat speed and strength, producing heavy line-drive contact to all fields.
- High School: Marvin Ridge HS
- Scouting Report: Hampton provides a highly physical profile at first base. He presents an excellent target defensively with advanced footwork around the bag with soft hands, saving numerous runs throughout the spring season on the way to a State Championship. A true middle-of-the-order threat, his powerful right-handed stroke features natural lift and advanced strength, projecting power at the next level.
- High School: Marvin Ridge HS
- Scouting Report: Kerr is an incredibly dynamic, high-twitch athlete who excels on both sides of the ball and on the grid iron as a QB. At shortstop, he features range, smooth lateral movements, and a quick transfer paired with a premium arm. In the batter's box, the left handed hitter generates impressive rotational power, consistently squaring up premium pitching with a heavy, barrel-accurate stroke.
- High School: Wakefield HS
- Scouting Report: A high-IQ defender who plays the game with exceptional rhythm and pace. Piscorik shows great instincts on the dirt, reading hops beautifully and consistently making tough plays look routine. Offensively, he commands the zone with maturity, while beginning to show raw power that could translate to a middle of the order type bat at the next level.
- High School: Southeast Alamance HS
- Scouting Report: Jackson is a slick-fielding shortstop who immediately stands out for his loose, athletic actions and rapid lateral quickness. He throws from multiple arm slots with ease and carries premium carry across the diamond. At the plate, his quick hands permit him to manipulate the barrel effectively, driving balls with authority into the gaps. Another two sport athlete, Jackson is the QB at Southeast Alamance as well.
- High School: Charlotte Christian School
- Scouting Report: Reynolds is a versatile, high-energy spark plug who can impact the game all over the field. A premium runner with excellent base-running instincts, he translates that speed onto the dirt with great range and light feet. He possesses a highly repeatable, line-drive swing built to rack up extra-base hits. His quality ABs throughout the spring, especially against some of the top arms in the state stood out with scouts present.
- High School: Charlotte Christian School
- Scouting Report: A “Baseball Player” with a high-ceiling frame. Andino possesses elite arm strength that plays heavily from third base, the outfield, or the mound. Offensively, his strong lower half gives him the leverage to produce high exit velocities and loud pull-side power, making him a major offensive threat every time he steps in. Andino is scheduled to be a two-way talent at the Future Games for Team NC
- High School: Cardinal Gibbons HS
- Scouting Report: Virag brings a strong, physical presence to the hot corner. He displays reliable hands, great body control on the run, and a strong arm across the diamond. A physical right-handed hitter, Virag looks to do damage in the air, utilizing a loose but powerful swing that features advanced barrel feel and pull-side leverage.
Team Carolina (Sr. Future Games - 2027 Grads)
- High School: West Forsyth HS
- Scouting Report: Buccino is a nimble fist basemen with good footwork and hands around the bag. Offensively, the power potential to all fields is real. The raw power stands out and as he begins to translate that into game action he will provide an immediate impact in the middle of any order.
- High School: Central Davidson HS
- Scouting Report: Beck is a fundamentally sound shortstop who anchors the infield with high energy and quiet confidence. He features exceptionally clean glove-work, an ultra-quick release, and accurate throws across the diamond. At the dish, he brings a compact, low-maintenance stroke that consistently delivers hard contact and high-obp production.
- High School: Laney HS
- Scouting Report: Brooks is a highly competitive, two-way standout who movement and strength stands out on the field. The bat works to create hard, pull-side contact with some natural loft. The strength in the frame plays in the box. Defensively, the athleticism and arm strength will allow him to stick on the left side of the field. That raw arm strength carries over to the mound, where reports have seen him north of 91mph this summer.
