With the 2026 Kansas high school baseball season officially in the books, it’s time to announce our 2026 Prep Baseball Kansas Player of the Year. In 2024, the honor went to Eli Lovich of Blue Valley West, with Shawnee Mission East's Michael Winter taking home the award last season after one of the most dominant seasons on the mound the state has ever seen.

This year, the award goes to INF Beau Peterson (Mill Valley, 2026, Texas signee), who capped his prep career by putting together a monster season at the plate. As the anchor for a Mill Valley squad that was consistently one of the state's top teams all season long, Peterson helped lead the Jaguars to a 24-5 record, a regional title, and back-to-back state tournament appearances.

Regarded as the Sunflower State's top draft prospect, Peterson entered the season with lofty expectations and did not disappoint. He hit a blistering .535 with 46 hits, 24 extra-base hits, 37 RBIs, and 37 runs scored, good for an .886 slugging percentage and a 1.536 OPS. Even more impressive, the two-time Prep Baseball All-American struck out just five times over 120 plate appearances while drawing 28 walks. He added 28 stolen bases for good measure while routinely taking everyone's best shot in a grueling Sunflower League schedule, continuing to prove why he is regarded as one of the premier talents in the country.

Congratulations to Beau Peterson on winning our 2026 Prep Baseball Kansas Player of the Year Award!
