2026 Future Games - Team PNW Game Recap - Game 1 vs. Colorado

This Thursday, Team PNW played their first game as a part of the coveted 2026 Prep Baseball Future Games. The top 2028 talent from Washington and Oregon dominated in all facets, defeating Team Colorado by a final score of 12-0. 

Several players had huge performances in game one, with 12 different players collecting a hit. All four arms also threw 2 scoreless innings in dominant outings. 7/23 vs. Colorado Game Recap

Liberty HS arm Tate Tuininga got the start in G1 and delivered a hugely impressive 2-inning stint. The long 6'5 righty was in complete control, overpowering hitters with a FB up to 93.4 MPH. The heater carried heavy ride with over 2700 RPM consistently, paired with a SL and CH offspeed combination. The Liberty arm didn't allow a hit or walk in his brief appearance. Tuininga got a ton of swing and miss, including 4 strikeouts swinging and 6 K's overall. 

The offense was rolling early, with 2 singles to start the game from OF Beau Johnson and OF Sam Smith. Later in the frame, Summit's Evan Guadalupe delivered a 2 RBI double the other way. 

After Tuininga's first two innings, Summit's Ryker Hartlaub took over and was solid in innings 3/4. The lefty works with some deception and funk, and threw the fastball up to 85.4 MPH in his Future Games outing. Hartlaub worked around a bit of traffic in both innings, striking out 4 hitters over 2 scoreless. 

Meanwhile, the offense just kept adding on inning after inning. Up and down the lineup, players worked QAB's. Ben Byeman chopped a double to left in his first plate appearance to highlight the second inning. In the third, Puyallup's Greg Johnson sent a towering blast out to LCF for a solo home run. 

The middle part of the order delivered the second time through the order. Gig Harbor INF Daniel Sleeter dropped down a drag bunt to get the 4th inning going, followed by hits by Guadalupe and INF Dominic D'Amico. Later in the inning, Eastmont's Izik Ontiveros cleared the bases with a lined shot double of the LCF wall.

Puyallup's Madden Pike toed the mound for innings 5/6. A longtime top-end prospect, Pike delivered his usual look, mixing in a high-80's heater and sharp slider consistently. Pike relied on the slider heavily in all counts with a high-intent delivery and quick arm. Pike allowed just 1 hit over his two innings with 3 strikeouts. 

The offense padded on late in an impressive performance beginning to end. Lynden's Joe Bense laced an RBI double down the line to highlight the late offense, while Pike delivered an RBI single as well. Team PNW extended the lead to 12-0 by the 6th inning.

Battle Ground's Collin McGowan threw the final two frames and was exceptional. In his first inning, McGowan ran the heater up to 93.4 MPH, sitting mostly 91-92. He worked through a quicker frame, inducing three pop ups in short order. In the second inning, he had to work a bit more, but recorded three strikeouts looking, The fastball settled in more at 88-89, with the breaking ball mixed in well.

Team PNW cruised to a 12-0 victory in their first game. The squad looks to continue their hot play on Friday 7/24, with first pitch taking place at 8:30 PM EST. Stay tuned the remainder of this week for all Future Games content.
