Super 17: In Review
July 1, 2026
The Super 17 came back for another year in Kansas City and once again found overwhelming success from both a talent and exposure perspective, bringing some of the best athletes from a 13 state ranges to compete in front of college coaches from all over the midwest and otherwise. The 110 teams battled it out over as many as 7 games on their way to securing one of two titles across the two divisions. Down below we'll break down each division winner and their championship counterpart as well as my picks for the top players of the weekend as well as some scouting notes from the action. Let's kick things off with my Super 17 standouts.
2027 C/CIF Krayton House (Mid-Buchanan HS, MO): The Stout 5'11 RHH got better as the weekend went on and with impressive physical tools and metrics already on his side it made for one of the more intriguing follows of the weekend. House finished the Super 17 a ridiculous 15/21 adding 6XBH and strong defensive play both behind the dish and in the corner infield. The combination of 6.7 speed, bat speed and obvious bat to ball skills allow for House to be a consistent XBH threat each time he takes the field making for one of the more exciting uncommitted profilles still on the board in the 2027 class.
2027 CIF/RHP Connor Jones (Staley HS, MO): Jones was no stranger to success on both sides of the diamond this weekend between a strong 6 innings on the hill to give his squad a win to close out pool play and finishing his 3 game set at the plate 8/9 with 4HR including a 3HR game to end the weekend. On the mound, Jones ran the FB up to 88 while carrying velo deep into the 6th inning to pair with two viable out pitches in a hard, tight slider and a CH playing to some consisent fade. Jones was able to mix up a variety of deliveries on the mound while finding the zone while having the mental makeup to succeed in any situation. At the plate Jones is as simple as it gets from the right side with great feel to build power from the ground up and a tight turn. The rising senior looks to do damage to the pull side with natural feel to lift and had the power tool on display making for one of the most fun prospects on the KC summer circuit this summer. Jones is the type of player that could be an instant impact for the right program at the next level.
2027 MIF Tatum Mabus (Millard North HS, NE): The Millard North products has compiled an impressive set of metrics from the 6'1, 190 pound frame with plenty of present athleticism and the arm to suggest he'll stick on the left side at the next level. In the game setting this weekend, Mabus was equally impressive finishing the Super 17 7/13 with 2HR, 4XBH in a 5 game slate. The RHH features some moving parts in the pre pitch before staying tight and connected through the zone creating some impressive bat speed with a strong feel to match plane. The biggest win for Mabus' game this weekend was the plate discipline and as it continues to trend upward Nebraska's #2 SS in the 2027 class will only continue to garner more attention at the next level.
2027 OF Kyle LaRose (St. Charles East HS, IL): The athletic built 5'11 outfielder was one of the biggest winners of the weekend by far in the Super 17 showing off an impressive ability to generate triple digit EVs from a less physically developed frame while maintaining strong bat to ball skills. LaRose finished the 4 game slate 5/10 adding a HR and 4XBH from the left side. At the plate, LaRose features a prominent leg kick while creating some lag in the hands before delivering an impact barrel through the zone with some violent pull side intentions. The LHH gave an aggressive look at the plate hunting the FB early and often leading to consistent success at the dish. I would be surprised to find LaRose uncommitted too much longer after his Super 17 weekend.
2027 RHP Spencer Beltram (Park Hill HS, MO): The Missouri State commit has continued his impressive junior campaign from the spring into this Summer without missing a beat. in 5 innings this weekend between two apperances, Beltram delivered 10Ks/3BB allowing just a pair of hits between the two games. The 6'5, 210lb right handed arm unravels late in delivery with present arm speed creating a tough matchup even before it comes in at 88 with consistent run to pair with two top end breaking ball looks. Outside of the obvious physical tools, Beltram's fastball makes him one of the most exciting arms in the KC area with his ability to attack the zone and consistently dodge barrels, throwing less than 8 off speed pitches in his championship start while allowing a single hit is a prime example of that. When he enevitably makes a jump in velo this will be a highly touted arm at this level and the next.

Building Champions - Cope found themselves as a heavy favorite coming into the weekend and delivered with nothing less than expected in their 7-0 title run. Coach Cope's squad compiled a run differential of +54 over the course of the weekend including outscoring their bracket opponents 35-3 to earn their banner. This roster is littered with top end committed talent, notably Grant Westphal (Texas), Warren Robertson (Notre Dame), Finn Moore (Air Force), Owen Hughes (Kentucky), and Spencer Beltram (Missouri State) led the charge of those who've found a home at the next level followed closely by Connor McCool, Drake Blasi, Drew Pittman, and Tucker Gamet all top end producers still looking for a landing spot at the next level.
Finalist
The Victus Vandals Impressed at every turn exceeding everyone's expectations for them on the weekend except for their own on their way to a 6-0 record with some quality wins compiled before falling just short in the title bout. The hallmark of the Vandals for this weekend was their ability to produce quality at bats from top to bottom in the order leading to some explosive wins in the process with a pair of 12+ run wins on the weekend. The main catalysts in the order were Caden O'Donnell and Wyatt Mabe followed closely by a pair of tough outs in Wyatt Francis and Miller McCoy.
Open
Marek Academy brought their bats to the ballpark and didn't let them cool off for the entirety of their 7 game slot averaging over 10 runs per game in pool play before a 14 run semi final performance to punch their ticket to the championship and steady hitting across the board in the final to secure it. The Lineup found production from top to bottom to produce at such a high level with notable weekends from Krayton House, Porter McCarthy, and Cody Rodgers supplemented by some loud performances from Austin Cravens and Xander Tiller throughout the Super 17.
Finalist
Coach Gunter's Sandlot squad brought a completely different energy to the ballpark than their championship counterpart. They manufactured runs in a variety of ways being unafraid to swipe bases and bunt runners into scoring position including a stretch of squeeze bunts that led to the semi final win to send them to the championship game. The players put the team above their own personal success and were rewarded with a strong 6-1 finish in the Super 17.
